Over recent days, Luis's optimism dwindled as the reality of losing Sabrina loomed. So much so, he considered anything that'd prolong a stay in America. On another note, gazing into the mirror, he recalled a mutual dislike for straight-laced styles.
And so, settling on dark slacks, white button-collar shirt, and a shaded sports coat, Luis dressed casually. On the surface, he exuded confidence, yet entering the suite, Jim noted hidden apprehensions.
"Nervous?"
Staring, he smirked.
"I hope she remembers."
Immediately after, the phone rang.
"See, she didn't forget." Caroline jested.
Instantly, he sneered and answered.
"Waiting long?" Sabrina mocked.
More and more, Jim and Caroline observed their sons' pleasant glow. Although, even appearing content, he also seemed worried.
"Something like that." he replied, snickering.
"I'm sorry, I was helping my mother."
"Noted..." he answered. "Did you get some rest?"
"A little."
"Then, service went well?"
Suddenly, Sabrina hesitated.
"Everything went fine."
Steadily, Luis settled into a nearby chair.
"I'm glad..." he retorted. "I've made reservations for the Bistro Royale; I hope that's adequate?"
Unexpectedly, she sheltered amid Julia's consistent gazes.
"That sounds great; what time?"
"8 pm."
"I'll be ready."
Following, she joined her mother in the kitchen.
"Was that Luis?"
"Yeah..." she confessed, smiling. "However, I guess you suspected as much."
"It isn't a big secret."
Out of nowhere, Sabrina turned away and viewed the morning paper.
"Something wrong?"
It's well known Julia didn't relish surprises, but Luis had visited, and she needed to know.
"Luis was here." she admitted.
Astounded, her mother stepped back.
"What do you mean?"
True to form, she again hesitated.
"The other morning, I turned, and there he was."
Groaning, Julia glared.
"How serious is it between you?"
Step by step, Sabrina approached.
"He's taking me to dinner, so we'll find out."
In the end, Julia appreciated the truth, but there was something else she demanded to know.
"Do you love him?"
Sabrina gazed and shrugged.
"I'm not rushing into anything..." she replied. "But, yes, I know I do."
