Ji Hu stood on her balcony, for the first time in a while she didn't feel scared to be out there. Last night, Gu Won really went out of his way to make sure that Ji Hu took full advantage of her balcony and the song again. Ji Hu still had a bit of anxiety being out there, just because she wouldn't be able to erase those memories. They were burned into her brain. But right now, Noh Ji Hu was happy.
"I ended up doing what's best for me, eomma." Ji Hu looked up at the sky. "I always thought happiness was fake." Ji Hu said honestly.
Ji Hu closed her eyes, letting the wind hit her. She inhaled deeply, smiling to herself. Suddenly, two arms wrapped around her. Ji Hu opened her eyes as she leaned back against Gu Won's chest. "You're up early."
"Yeah, well, I can only play hookie once. I have to go to work today." Ji Hu said.
"I've been thinking,"
"Oh no, what could you possibly say now?" Ji Hu joked as she turned in Gu Won's arms, wrapping her arms around him.
"Why don't we say yesterday was the eve and have today as the actual company anniversary?" Gu Won suggested.
Ji Hu laughed. "No, not happening. Are you trying to take the whole year off?" Ji Hu asked.
"An anniversary deserves at least two days' celebration. You seem to have less affection for the company than I do." Gu Won said.
Ji Hu pushed Gu Won gently. "Affection for the company? Well yeah, I created Mirae Entertainment. Madam Ju said it would just make them lose money, yet... Mirae Entertainment is in the top 3 highest ranking company within the group." Ji Hu said as her phone rang. "Hello oppa." She greeted Seong Min.
"We received a document from Mr. Noh Seok Min."
Ji Hu's happiness died instantly. It was starting to really become a reality that she decided to pull herself from the running for chairperson. "We'll be right over."
Ji Hu knew that Gu Won was upset with her when it came to the candidacy, especially after telling her to go for it anyway. She couldn't - she had to end this the best she could. Ji Hu walked through the office, greeting some of the employees in passing with Gu Won behind her. She headed straight for her office with the documents in hand when Seong Min saw her walk by.
"You can't sign it."
"I can't go back on my word now." Ji Hu said.
"We need to catch the bastard who tried to kill you, find out who was behind him, and make sure they leave you alone." Gu Won said.
Ji Hu sat at her desk, opening the envelope with the documents that the lawyer drew up. What the problem was with Gu Won's statement was... Ji Hu had decided that finding out who was trying to kill her was pointless. As much as she wanted to locate the man and knowing that Gu Won got a good look at the half of his face, Ji Hu couldn't bring herself to find him. Finding him just meant her siblings (mainly Seok Min) would potentially use that against her. She didn't want to risk another person coming after her, even after signing her rights to the chairperson position and the inheritance.
"I don't want to restart the whole thing." Ji Hu answered. "I like the life I've currently living as a CEO, model, and married woman. I don't want whoever is behind this to think just because we found one guy he could go around and do it all over again. If we just leave him be... maybe he'll leave me alone too." Ji Hu looked at the documents, seeing everything was written up nicely.
