"But what if I say no?"

Keira asked as Sebastian steadied her on her feet, carrying her into the room even further.

"Are you going to take me now?"

Sebastian chuckled, his smile torturing the little witch as he laid her down on the bed.

"No, I am not going to take you now, dandelion...not in your condition."

"My condition? I've been drunk before," Keira smiled, "I've been so drunk.."

Sebastian sighed and stroked her cheek, "I know. I've watched you."

"Such a stalker," she said, "Can you rest with me?"

"Do you want me to?"

"As much as I don't want to, you're the only being I can trust right now."

Sebastian nodded as Keira curled up on her side and watched him crawl into the bed with her.

"How many more rooms do you have?"

"Plenty," Sebastian said, "Our room is up a few stories, though. This is one of my guest rooms."

Keira watched him for a while before closing her eyes. Was she really the satyr queen? Why would her family lie about it?

"I don't know what to feel, Sebastian," Keira said, her eyes remaining closed, "I've never thought about being a queen or having a mate—not now anyway."

"It's the time to do so," Sebastian told her, "Breeding is on the list of to-dos."

"The...wait...what?"

"Breeding," he said as if she would understand, "We have to make children to keep our line going as we collect what's rightfully ours—land, titles, everything. I am not here to just copulate with you, Keira. I am here to make you mine and show you who you really are."

"I guess I can thank you for that," she said, "To be honest, I only knew my parents. Everyone else was dead—including my cousins.."

"That was Reeko."

"Reeko?"

"The king."

"He killed my family?"

"He killed many, dandelion, and that's why he could never breathe the same air as you or our children."

The wine made her head swim and she let a tear slip down her cheek, but caught it before Sebastian could see—or so she thought. He'd been good at keeping a close eye on her.

"What about my visit here when I was a baby?" Keira asked, confusion enveloping her whole being, "I don't recall it at all. Was I nice then? I don't remember being too nice," she laughed as Sebastian took her hand into his, "Did I meet you then?"

"You were five," he said, "Right before your parents died in yet another skirmish. I was here the whole time, waiting for you—watching, listening to my father tell me to protect you, to stay as close to you as possible."

"I'm...I don't know if I'm sorry for how I've treated you. I don't know if I can trust you or anyone else right now. You have to understand that this seems strange to me, even though the oracles showed me...you..I don't know what they showed me, but I have never asked who my mate was because that simply doesn't happen to witches."

"But it does to nymphs and satyrs and those like us, little dandelion. I assure you that the cosmos are in line with us. You'll have two sets of gods to yell at," he chuckled, "I know I do. They probably get tired of my complaining."

"But why now? I don't know, Sebastian..I won't lie and say that I do not desire you because you are tempting," she smiled when he narrowed his eyes at her and smirked, "You obviously know that you're attractive and it's..I..well, I want you, but now? We just met.."

The audacity she felt knowing what they'd already done in the cave was overwhelming. If she wasn't indulging on spirits, Keira knew she'd already have ripped Sebastian's clothes off. There would be some wild nights if that was what he wanted because she wanted that, too. Just the thought of him inside of her sent shivers down her spine and caused her to clench her thighs together.

He smiled at her squirming. He knew he had charmed her, but she was a stubborn one. Good thing he already knew she was or he'd be taking her back to her coven once dawn hit.

"You are tempting," he said, "I have tempted you and that's what my plan is. You've no idea how you made me feel the first time we actually spoke after so many years—that night Chaos Dempsey's caravan came through and my men stopped at the lagoon. You were so willing to die for your lead witch. Josette, is it? And I loved you then, like I love you now, and like I loved you when we were five and had these ribbons in your hair just as you do now. I will always love you, Keira. That most definitely will never change."

"Sebastian..you—you can't love me like that. We don't know each other," Keira said, softly, yet feeling a deeper connection to him every second she was with the satyr.

Sebastian rolled over to face her, "I will give you space. I will give you everything you desire, Keira, but I cannot wait long."

"Why can't we wait?" Keira said, "Even if we're mates and can see eye to eye, get married, make a home...make each other happy then why couldn't we simply wait to have children? I don't get it."

Sebastian pulled her close to him, resting his forehead on hers, breathing in her scent and praying to the gods that that moment would never end.

"I don't have much time, Keira. I'm dying."
