"Do you feel sorry for me?" Sebastian asked, tilting his head and watching her eyes as Keira showed every emotion possible.

"Yes, but I also feel sorry for me!" Keira said, causing the satyr to chuckle, "At least I'm being honest. How long have you been cursed? Do not lie! "

"About a year..year give or take a few days. That sounds about right. We were near the dragon's lair.. "

"How could you let this go for so long?!" Keira yelped, "We could hsve bern together!"

Sebastian hadn't really taken her into consideration now that he thought about it. That was his shame to deal with–his bad decision.

"I was...trying to protect you..I promise.. I, yes, I wanted to make love to you even if you weren't my mate. I found you very sexy and comfortable to be around, even when we bantered. "

"From the truth?" Keira sobbed, "I can't..I.."

"I know.." Sebastian said, "I am so sorry, my little dandelion. I assure you I only did what was right. I thought I exhausted all of my options as I've been told by so many that only the hag herself could reverse it."

"What if they were lying to you?"

"They are trusted, Keira."

"I don't trust anyone.."

"I know," Sebastian smiled, "Are you ready to go?"

"Yes, take me from this place, please."

Keira could no longer look at her ancestral belongings. Her heart hurt—it hurt to the core. Now her mate walked beside her, holding her and protecting her from the world and she had no clue how to protect him.

"All of this is yours, Keira...you are the only one from your line who has the satyr mutation," Sebastian told her as they ascended the stairs to the second level, "This town is yours—you're their queen."

Keira shivered, never thinking that in a million years she'd be the queen of anything.

"Will you be good to me?"

"Why would you ask that? I'd be so good to you, Keira."

"We haven't been very kind to each other, Sebastian."

Sebastian smiled, "I was trying to match you at your own game. I seduced you plenty of times, but you never gave in to me."

"Not to your face.. "

"Pardon?"

"You haunted my fantasies. I couldn't bring myself to tell you because I was so embarrassed. I'm not used to men getting the upper hand on my emotions. "

Sebastian stroked Keira's cheek with the tender touch of his knuckles.

"We're mates, Keira. Being in your dreams is what I've hoped for. "

He looked passed her and frowned, his eyebrows furrowing.

"What the hell is that?"

Keira turned around, immediately interested in investigating, but Sebastian held her back.

"You're also going to have to get used to me doing everything to keep you out of harm's way. "

Keira scowled,"I'm fully capable. "

"It's my job, -"

"It's our job, Sebastian. If we're mates, we keep each other safe. Let's go together and see what it is–as partners."

Sebastian held her close as they followed the sound of scuffling across the floor in one of the rooms.

"At least stay close? "

Keira nodded, but her stomach told her that she was going to find something in that room she'd longed for since she was just a toddler.

"Ribbit... ."

"The fuck?"

Keira gasped as they flung open the bathroom doors to one of the guest rooms.

"A toad? That's the biggest fucking toad I've ever seen in my life!" Sebastian shuddered, "Yours?"

"Of course I'm hers!"

"It talks... "

"You have horns and you talk!" The toad turned to Keira,"Keira! I finally found you! I'm Vera."

Keira stepped closer and reached out her hand to stroke Vera's smooth head, "I'm so delighted to meet you, Vera. How did you get passed the guards?"

Vera stuck her tongue out and rolled it back in, "I'm a toad. They thought nothing of it. Now, are we making babies yet or what?"

Keira blushed while Sebastian smirked.

"I was interrupted by you, Miss Vera.."

Vera glimpsed Sebastian up and down.

"Gods, you're a big man.. "

Keira bit her bottom lip, already knowing what he had waiting for her in his trousers.

"Yes, I think we're almost ready to... do that.."

Keira trembled. She never wanted this to be how she had children, with a man she didn't really know, but she'd grown fond of do quickly.

"I understand your trepidation, dandelion... "

Keira turned to him,"How? You've loved me for a lifetime. I just realized that I could even like you a day ago.. "

Vera sighed,"A dilemma.. "

"You can leave any time, Keira, I promise you. I can't promise that the other satyrs and enchanted beings won't attempt to kill us off or take over your forest."

"Like you were? "

"It's your forest, too, little dandelion. I needed to get you out of it, though. You'd never believe me otherwise. "

Keira turned to Vera,"Did you know?"

Vera nodded,"For a little while. I wanted you to find out soon and I'm glad it's not, not later. We have more battles to fight and I'll be right by your side. This is your destiny, child. "

Keira was so scared and she'd never been scared to be with a man before.

"I'll be gentle," Sebastian promised.

"Well, what if I don't want you to be gentle?"

Vera croaked while Sebastian pulled Keira into his arms.

"Then I'll be however you want me to be.. "
