"Missing.." Sebastian searched therooms briefly for their friend, but found no trace of Malcolm, "Ican't believe he's gone. He's never just vanished like that before."
Keira sobbed happy, frightful tears asshe and Sebastian held their child close.
Whatever necessities they had left,Sebastian secured the items into bags for easy carrying.
"Why can't we enjoy him for a while?"Keira was mad, yet so was Sebastian.
"I've prayed to the gods and thefucking oracles every day for a miracle or a way out of here and nowthey're leaving us with nothing!"
Sebastian growled as he paced the room, his mind not even beginning to understand what was happening.
"We have to go," Sebastian said,"Are you alright to travel?"
"Yes.."
"Good.."
"But,-"
"Mate, we will not have a home hereif we stay. We'll just be sitting in the dirt."
Keira allowed Sebastian to help her upand to get dressed, gathering the rest of their items and looking outthe remaining windows of the home.
"What the hell?"
"A carriage?"
"Is it safe?"
"The fuck if I know," Sebastiansighed, "We've been given everything we need thus far so maybe it'sfrom the gods."
Helping her into the carriage,Sebastian looked back at the home as did Keira with tears in hereyes. She had a swaddled Emmett close to her bosom as the two palewhite horses reigned before them.
"I will miss it, too.." Sebastiansaid, "Let's go, my dandelion."
Before they were gone, the rest of thehouse crumbled, the garden turned to weeds and a swampy mist gatheredwhere their little cottage once stood.
"When we need to sleep, we can takethe inside of the carriage. It looked comfortable enough."
"This way.." Keira said, pointingto the forest, "We need to go this way."
"Are you sure?"
"I can feel it."
Taking his wife's intuition to heart,Sebastian steered the carriage in the direction of the forest.
It was dark and eerie, but they kepton—talking to each other about whether or not they would even havethe strength to fight the hags.
"I don't know," Sebastian admitted,"I need to test out some skills later on to see if I even havethem."
"Same as I," Keira said, "Oh, howI hope Malcolm is alright."
So did Sebastian.
"He's a good friend," he confided,"And he should be properly taken care of."
"Esther keeps her promises."
"Then we will keep our hopes alive."
Keira looked down at their sleeping sonand smiled.
"He's going to be so much like you,"she said, "I know it."
"He'll be like both of us—stubbornand wild."
Keira nodded, "I want to be alive towatch him grow."
"We will...hope, little one..."
"What is that?!"
"What is what?"
"Over here.." Keira pointed to herside of the woods as Sebastian leaned in, "Right...here!"
Keira turned her head and kissedSebastian on the lips softly, causing him to stop the carriageabruptly.
He took a hand and cupped her face, caressing it gently, until she moved away with a shy smile.
"What was that for?"
Keira shrugged, "I don't know. I justfelt like kissing you."
Sebastian smiled and journeyed on.
Something was happening tothem—especially his wife.
He would soon find out what thatsomething was and he was going to fight to the ends of the Realm tokeep it.
