Malcolm didn't come to see them for the next few weeks, but life carried on for the duo–even though they were trapped in the Dark Realm.
“Oh, I just love this color for the nursery!"
Sebastian looked quite satisfied with himself when he watched his wife scan the daffodil colored room in awe.
“Oh, Sebastian. He's going to love it."
"You think so?”
"I know so! I can feel him telling me.”
Sebastian smiled, "That certainly makes me very happy, Keira.”
Keira rubbed her belly and headed out of the room to gather more toys that they'd found throughout the cottage.
“I love this little centaur," Keira giggled, “But he looks like Malcolm."
She held up the little doll as Sebastian studied it and laughed heartily.
"Oh good…our son will have a tiny Malcolm to throw around."
Keira smiled, “I wouldn't mind raising him here if I knew the barrier would hold. I don't think it'll be much longer before he's here."
Sebastian was excited, but angry.
How was he going to raise a family in the middle of the Dark Realm? This situation wasn't even heard of.
What type of satyr would he be if he allowed that? Sebastian didn't necessarily have a choice, thought.
He had to be strong and provide for his family wherever they were and no matter the arrangements.
“We'll get by,” Keira assured him, pointing to their fresh garden, “Life still thrives here.”
That's what they did.
It was like home to them as Keira grew and the house felt like they'd lived there for years.
“Fresh tomatoes!”
Sebastian brought in a basket full as Keira set out some herbal tea.
Every day something knew appeared in the home or outside to make it feel less like the Dark and more like what they'd have if things were normal.
They caught the sunrises and sunsets together, cuddled when the thunderstorms rolled through, and made love so passionately that the thoughts of even returning to the Shadow Realm seemed distant.
“Look at that big head,” Sebastian patted her upper stomach and smiled.
“Husband, that's his bum. He's already turned.”
Sebastian's eyes widened as he glanced up at her.
“He turned?”
“Sometime during the night,yes…”
“Did you feel it?”
Keira giggled, “No, he's very stealthy. I'm ready for him. I can't begin thank Malcolm enough for finding all the baby supplies that I couldn't muster up with my magic.”
Sebastian agreed, “He's definitely come through for us.”
Her thoughtful expression made Sebastian curious.
“What is it?”
“I don't know. I truly miss home and we're clearly not supposed to be here so I guess I haven't worried much about it, but why do I feel like I also don't care if we're ever let loose?”
Sebastian tilted his head and smiled.
“I don't know. I feel the same and I have a small kingdom I need to take care of. I'd much rather just take care of you and our child.”
Keira figured that all of it could be a ruse….the way they were taken care of, the fact that the barrier was protecting them, the times they both saw flashes of visuals from the Shadow Realm..
“Here's some tea, husband..” Keira took Sebastian a mug of frothy tea one evening as he finished putting up the crib, “Promise me you'll come to bed soon?”
“Do you want me there?”
“You're the only one who warms me.”
Sebastian smiled as he sipped the tea.
“I love you, too…”
Keira turned and walked back to their bedroom, passing the main windows and taking a peak at the rain coming down.
“I only love storms now that I'm with you,” She said, slipping out of her clothes as Sebastian ran a bath for them, “You make me feel so safe.”
Sebastian shed his own clothes, setting the mug on a table beside the tub.
“Even though it's my job to keep you and Emmett safe, I enjoy it.”
"That's good because we certainly enjoy you."
