Letting Go

Hester tried to run, but she was in noshape to do so.

Keira caught up with her first andtossed the hag against the side of a tree, eliciting a loud moan fromthe hag.

"You were mine...you bastard.."

"He was never yours!" Keira said,"He was always mine—ever since we were promised as younglings."

Keira turned to Sebastian, who wastossing out his own spells at the hag, causing the creature to golimp momentarily, "I wish I'd known..."

"Known what?"

"That I was yours."

"I put us through this, mate.."Sebastian said, "But it's time for her to go back to the darkness."

With one swift move, both Keira andSebastian raised their arms up in unison as Emmett gazed up at hisparents and recited their enchantments to send the hags back to theDark Realm.

Hester was no match for the two andwithin moments dissipated into the winds.

"She's gone.."

"She's..." Sebastian smiled, "We'reno longer cursed...I feel the light."

They watched as the Undead fell andtheir allies were either killed or taken away as prisoners.

"It's over.."

"We're free.."

Malcolm watched them from a distanceand smiled. He was happy for them and happy that he'd helped.

"Malcolm!"

Keira ran to him, wrapping an armaround the centaur's shoulders.

"Thank you! Thank you so much forsaving us!"

Sebastian smiled, "We owe you a greatdeal, Malcolm. How can we ever repay you?"

"I think I know how."

Esther came up behind them and smiled,"Whenever you're ready, Malcolm.."

Keira sobbed, "You're going home.."

Malcolm hugged her, nuzzling his chinagainst hers, "I will be on the other side waiting many, MANY yearsfor the three of you."

He looked down at Emmett, "You're ablessing, little one. I am off to see my children and wife now, but Iwill keep watch from a distance."

"You are a blessing, too," Keirasaid, allowing Sebastian to hold her, "I can't believe you're.."

"I won't be too far away, Queen ofthe Satyrs..." Malcolm winked as quiet enchantments from Esthercould be heard and the Soul Coven, plus some of Kane's men watchedfrom afar, "Until we meet again.."

And then, he was gone.

"You kept your promise to him.."Keira said, looking towards Esther, "Thank you."

Esther smiled, "He wasn't meant to bein that awful place. He's home now—and they've welcomed him withlove and open arms. They will keep an eye on you and I will see whatlittle Ruthie is up to—if I can. She seems to be a little...busywith a handsome dragon prince.."

Augustus held his queen as they walkedaway, leaving the carnage behind.

"We all need to get back to thecastle," Augustus said, "Caravans, familiars, everyone on themove as soon as possible. We've won the battle this time and we mustcelebrate the birth of Prince Emmett Stokes."
