Sebastian and Keira were seated next to each other as their caravan traveled along. They were separated only by mere inches because Sebastian refused to give her a little space.
It wasn't as if Keira complained about it—on the contrary. His body was an amazing sight to behold and she felt compelled to be next to him.
"Do you always have other people do your bidding? Like drive your horses?"
Sebastian frowned, "You certainly are mouthy. I kind of like that–gets me all warm and fuzzy inside."
Keira scowled,"You're sick in the head. I should never have agreed to this—among other things. Gods, what was I thinking? I sure do get myself wrapped up in shit all of the time. No wonder Josette and Devonia have had to reprimand me so much—even when I was a kid. This is so ludicrous, satyr."
Sebastian shook his head,"Do you not believe your own oracles?"
Keira shivered, "I can't be your queen. I'm not a nymph."
Sebastian leaned into her, his hot breath fanning her cheek,"But what do you really know about yourself?"
Keira shoved him away,"I'm a witch and that's all that matters."
Sebastian chuckled,"I've waited for you, little weed. Ever since I was a teenage boy thinking about you swollen with my babies. "
"What the hell? How long have you been watching me?"
"All those days you could feel me? All those nights you told your parents you felt something watching you? That was me. "
Keira shuddered at the reveal,"What is wrong with you? That's horrible.. it's a violation of my, -"
Sebastian shrugged,"You're my mate, Keira. I promise you. I am the only one you can mate with, the only man who knows what you need. "
Keira scoffed,"You're full of shit. "
"You'll be full of me soon. "
"This is how you woo a woman?"
"Oh, please..it's not you've been with a good man."
Keira's mouth widened in shock, "How dare you?! I have been with good men!"
"Oh? Then why aren't you wedded to them? Have their children? Not even an engagement?"
Keira turned away, "I wasn't interested at the time."
Sebastian smiled, "Little weed, I would believe that if I hadn't seen the truth with my own eyes."
Keira's blood was boiling, "I outta slit your throat just for fun.."
Sebastian sighed, "You would, too—I am sure of it."
"Should I sleep with one eye open?"
Keira glared at him, "I would."
"Considering we're bunking together,-"
"Now come on! I don't know you, Sebastian."
"Oh, darling, you've got nothing to fear," Sebastian told her, "I will take care of your every need."
He leaned into her, "You're..every...need."
Keira pushed her thighs together as Sebastian chuckled, his muscles begging to be caressed by her.
"You can look all you want, dandelion. I don't mind."
"I am not looking," Keira cringed, "You're already making me crazy."
"I'm crazy about you, little weed..."
"Stop calling me that!"
"Why dandelions are weeds. They're beautiful..weeds are beautiful, necessary for life...you are necessary for my life."
"Why?"
"Why?"Sebastian turned to her, "Keira, my line continues only with you."
"Line...mate..." Keira rolled her eyes, "You must be plotting something. I don't trust satyrs."
"I know that, but you want to trust those visions, right?"
Keira winced. The oracles had never been wrong.
"Sebastian..."
"Gods, I love it when you say my name.." Sebastian growled, pulling her onto his lap, "Let me kiss you."
"What? No..no we can't do that," Keira had never been so frazzled by a man in all her life. She knew she was safe—her sisters were very close by and they'd called on some wolf packs to look after her while she was in the satyr's company.
"You are everything I've ever dreamed of—and more.."
Keira shifted in Sebastian's lap, "I can't be.." Her voice was so soft that it was barely audible.
Sebastian smiled, "I understand this is something incredibly surreal, but I promise you that we will get to know each other quite—QUITE—well over the next few days, my sweet dandelion...my precious mate."
Keira watched as the sun set and her mind grew tired. She'd been through so much in her life and now this? Was this a nightmare or a dream?
The way Sebastian looked at her seemed sincere, but maybe he was under some sort of spell. Maybe that was it—he didn't know what he was talking about. Maybe he was enchanted by some spiteful demon...Maybe he was an incubus and she was being seduced by his debauchery and sinful ways?
Oh, who was she kidding? She was no pious witch! She had many faults, many men...many drunken feasts that got her into plenty of trouble.
As if he knew what she was thinking, Sebastian wrapped his arms around her as she placed her head on his shoulder. She felt comfortable in his arms and that scared the hell out of her.
"You're safe with me, my feisty witch.." he whispered, "You won't want for another man as long as you have me..that I can promise you."
"This is not my destiny.." Keira told him, "It can't be..I'm...I'm..a witch.."
"Yes, a witch and a nymph.." Sebastian claimed, proudly, "I will show you."
Keira sighed as sleep crept over her, "I need to sleep."
Sebastian nodded, "Sleep, Keira..I promise on my life I will not let anything happen to you."
The last thing Keira recalled before slumber took over was Sebastian's lips kissing her softly on her forehead.
"Sweet dreams, little dandelion..."
