YOU

Days passed in a blur of routine at the hospital: you found yourself in your usual loop of tasks, assisting Doctor Keith as he tended to the wounded and the ailing.

However, when he cared to mention Levi Ackerman's desire for a sort of experimental procedure, and his own abritrary reluctance to it, a surge of rage coursed through you like wildfire.

That afternoon you could feel your breath quicken - chest tightening with indignation as you confronted Doctor Keith with a barrage of accusations and mild indignation.

You ardently railed against the lingering prejudices between Marleyans and Eldians, grappling with your own complicity in perpetuating the divide. But it had been three years already - had it all been for nothing?

As you spoke to Doctor Keith, numerous memories and repressed images of your past began running through your head: memories of your childhood, of your years living as a secluded eldian. But most heavily, you recalled your conversation with Levi during the bonfire night.

It echoed through your mind as a poignant reminder of the shared humanity that transcended labels and affiliations - it did not matter any longer. Eldian, Marleyan. What was the fucking differenc

In a heated exchange, you implored Doctor Keith to reconsider, to recognize the injustice of denying Levi and others a chance at a better life, just because of what you deemeed extremely outdated  political differences. In true, that all was such bullshit to you - hadn't everyone been through enough already? Everyone at the camp had already lost so much.

But your words seemed to struck a chord that day, drawing forth a reluctant admission of defeat and acceptance  from the doctor, tinged with a hint of remorse you could easily detect in his heavy eyes.

You continued to look into Doctor Keith's gaze and realized he felt ashamed.

As the weight of the moment settled over you, a mix of relief and apprehension suddenly took over. You knew the road ahead would be fraught with uncertainty, but you clung to the hope that Doctor Keith's newfound determination would tip the scales in Levi's favor.

Yet, amidst the tumult and heaviness of your emotions, your thoughts invariably returned to Levi - to the fleeting moments of intimacy shared between you the days prior.

The memory of your touch on his skin lingered on your fingers, igniting a spark of longing that refused to be extinguished. You disliked amitting it to yourself, but now that you had finished his portrait, you hated not having an excuse to spend time with him. The last few days felt somewhat empty to you as his absence became your unwanted company.

Hours later, as the evening fell and the sky darkened, you found yourself painting inside the quiet confines of your tent - the still darkness of Liberio's winter enveloped you like a shroud, wrapping you in solitude. The only warmth coming from your lazy attempt at a fire inside your tent.

A strange feeling of anticipation gnawed at your insides - a restless energy propelling you to the threshold of your tent. As you gently pressed your paintbrush against your canvas, you mentally asked yourself what was it you were actually anticipating? Why were you feeling this restless?

But no answer came to you.

Suddenly, what sounded like shifting grass reached your ears - your pulse quickened as you froze, stopping your motions against the thick sheet of paper. You stood up and quietly approached your tent's entrance. With trembling hands, you drew back the fabric barrier, revealing the figure hiding beyond.

"Levi?"

The name escaped your lips in a hushed whisper, laden with a mixture of hope and uncertainty. With bated breath, you awaited his response, your heart pounding in your chest as you braced yourself for whatever lay ahead with his unexpected, yet somehow anticipated presence.
