𝐃𝐀𝐍𝐂𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐐𝐔𝐄𝐄𝐍; 𝐒𝐭𝐞𝐯𝐞 𝐇𝐚𝐫𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐭𝐨𝐧 (ON HOLD)

𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐩𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐅𝐨𝐮𝐫

Cheryl sat on the wooden bench while watching Steve play basketball, her water bottle in her right hand and her backpack sitting near her. She just got done with cheer practice, it was very exhausting thing she had to do every week, she loved cheer leading but it was painful.

 She crossed her legs and stared at the score board, hoping Steve's team would win a point. He grabbed the orange ball and threw it, it hit the rim of the basket then fell inside it "YEAH!" His team yelled in happiness while jumping around him. Steve looked over at Cheryl, she smiled and gave him a thumbs up.

While the other team got the ball and were running around with their shoes making squeaking noises, Cheryl's backpack made weird noises. She unzipped it and took out her walkie talkie "pick up dammit!" Penny cursed into it "I'm here, what's up?" Cheryl casually says with a sigh "About time!" She said frantically "Dustin decided to bring some creature from the upside to school and it escaped!

"what?" Cheryl immediately got up from the bench and sped walked away, not realizing Steve was looking at her weirdly and confused on why she was in such a rush, he wanted to follow her but his teammates hit him on the shoulder to make him focus on the game.

She rushed to her car and opened the door, she slammed it shut and put her foot on the petal "what did it look like? was it like uh, the demogorgon?" worry filled in her voice. "It was small and slimy" Cheryl's face scrunched up in disgust as she imagined what it looked like "i'm almost there" 

She finally made it to the middle school after speeding through traffic, she hurried inside the school. Since the middle school classes were over, no one was inside other than Penny and her friends "Hello?" Cheryl yelled loudly, no response. "I guess i'll find the creature" She mumbled to herself.

She walked into a class room that had science posters everywhere, globes and other nerdy stuff.  She heard a slight shuffling in the back of the room, so she grabbed a bucket that has pencils in it. She walked slowly yet carefully with the bucket handle in her hands, she held in her breath and her heart started to race as she though what type of creature it was.

She saw the creature backing up in the corner of the room when it saw her, it was a small creature with a tint of green and yellow, it had a black stripe on its back. "Hi buddy" Cheryl said in a soothing voice, she held the buckets bottom, ready to trap the monster inside "I won't hurt you" the green thing tilted its head before she slammed the bucket on the ground "got you!" She yelled in happiness, now it was time to find the others.

"GUYS!" She yelled while running around the school, she found everyone in a circle talking besides Dustin. "where's Dustin?" Cheryl asked, the kids all turned around "he went to look for Dart" "Dart?" Cheryl asked, that was a bad name. "We didn't name him" Mike crossed his hands. "Who are you?" A girl with ginger hair asked, she was around the same age as everyone else "Cheryl" She answered "That's my older sister" Penny added on "oh. I'm Max. Why are you here?" 

"I found Dart, now if you want me to tell you where it is then tell Max to apologize for her poor attitude."  Max scoffed "come on Max!" Mike begged "ugh fine, sorry." Cheryl smiled at her apology "I put him in a bucket" "a bucket? Why a bucket?" Penny asked her oldest sister "because it trapped Dart inside" She put her hands on the red bucket "shut the door so it can't escape" Will closed the door as she told him to do.

She started to lift the bucket off, she ran away waiting for Dart to come out, but nothing was inside "wow!" Penny clapped her hands in a sarcastic manner "I had to apologize for nothing" Cheryl's eyebrows furrowed in confusion "N-no he was right here! I Swear!" She yelled "There you are Dustin!" Dustin walked in the room while adjusting his hat "where the hell were you?" Lucas asked him "I had to pee." 

"Dustin, have you seen Dart?" Cheryl walked closer to the kid "What? No I have not" Cheryl nodded her head "if you're lying i'm telling your mom" She threaten "well good because i'm not lying" Cheryl squinted her eyes before she believed him. 

"so he.. escaped from the bucket?" Max asked "it has super strength?" Penny shrugged at her theory "what? Did you see how small he was?" Lucas added on, they all started to talk at the same time"Guys!" Mike yelled that got everyone's attention "where's Will?" Everyone looked around in the room "he must've left" Cheryl answered.

"Guys split up!" Cheryl was on her own since she was the oldest "hi Miss Byers" Cheryl waved when she saw Will's mom walking in "where's Will?" She frantically asked "uh that's the thing.. we don't know." "what?!" 

"Will's in the field!" Lucas shouted then ran back outside, Cheryl ran after him,  seeing Will shake with his eyes closed and scared her. Joyce put her hands on Will's shoulder and shook him fast "Will wake up! It's your mom!" Joyce kept tapped his cheek while shaking him, Will's eyes opened widely. Cheryl sighed loudly, thankful that he woke up from his episode.

This is when she realized her journey with the upside isn't done, and it probably won't ever be.
