That was pretty dam terrifying.
The screams...they were so loud. They were horrible. Everything after that felt unreal. Suddenly, I was back in my dressing room, and Andromeda was hugging me and saying they shouldn't have put me through that. Then she was talking her head off about how worried she'd been while she did my hair and makeup and showed me some outfits to pick. I think that's when everything came back to focus; when I was picking my outfit. (you make up your own super cute outfit for this one)
After I was dressed, Andromeda led me to a car, and they drove me through all the school buildings and to a backstage of some sort, where I shook hands with freaking Uncle Rick himself. Then, after a while, I was called onto stage.
The crowd was freaking huge. I tried to spot my friends or Walker, but I couldn't catch anything in the vast crowd of heads. Two women who must've been Suzanne Collins and J.K. Rowling were standing off to the side of the stage. They didn't seem very happy. The Harry Potter fandom was shooting J.K. dirty looks, as if they didn't like her or something.
"This is a great honor bestowed upon a very worthy young lady, blah blah blah, I know you don't want to hear all that," Uncle Rick said. He handed me my prize... a big gray box.
Seriously. That was it. A big gray cube with some fancy lights, buttons, a big screen and a keyboard.
"This device allows the owner to shift into their desired universe," Uncle Rick said, and the crowd erupted; some into cheers, others in disbelief. Uncle Rick turned to me and said, "Here's the instruction manual. Don't lose it. You'll love this thing." He shook my hand again. The crowd applauded, and I was sent off stage.
Backstage, I found Fiona and Walker arguing with a security guard, my entire friend group behind them. When Fiona spotted me, she ran at me, tackling me in a hug, being careful not to knock the shifting box out of my hands.
"Looking good!" Delphine commented as she reached us, then gave me a bear hug.
Jeveskia hugged me too. The boys gave me a mix of high-fives and fist bumps.
Lucas stood off to the side. Well, not exactly; he was looking at me, but he stood back, a little farther from everyone. He was smiling, but I could tell it was forced.
No one left me alone as I was walking out. The girls helped with the box as I changed into this weird but kind of cute uniform, then they walked around me like a royal guard. People from our year were high-fiving me and congratulating me. I couldn't get away from everyone's eyes, so I had to wait to talk to Lucas.
Our entire friend group got to ride the Victor's bus. They tried not to pamper me with questions, since I was still going to be interviewed later, but Giovanni couldn't resist. The whole group wanted to know every detail of what happened. Only then did I realize Walker was on the bus with us.
All the teachers got us down to the cafeteria, where the new principal congratulated me, then launched into some boring speech about new protocols. The only sentence anyone really caught was, "Cell phone usage will no longer be allowed on campus."
Everyone groaned and complained. By regular standards, Fangirl School was very chill when it came to rules. How come this lady got to change them?
The interview was very brief. The new principal was clearly in a hurry to get us all to class. I went off with my homeroom class. This year it was Chapter 15, Nobody Gets The Fleece. Same people, same teacher, different room and name.
Mrs. Golde had everyone applaud me, then explained about the new principal.
"She was a colleague of Uncle Rick's when he was a teacher," she said, looking at some files we'd never seen before. "We've been told that depending on how well she does this year, she might stay forever. But if anyone asks, I never told you anything, okay?"
"Told us what?" this girl called Jeanette spoke up, and Mrs. Golde smiled.
(I am accepting fanart or digital art of characters because I really want to make a cast list but can't find face claims, and AI sucks.)
