"Bollocks," Faye cursed under her breath.
"Care to repeat that, Ms. Novak?" Ms. Edmund was calling them by their last names, that was definitely not a good sign.
"We're really sorry for what we did, Ms. Edmund." Kenna quickly exclaimed before Faye got them into more trouble.
Ms. Edmund sighed, shaking her head.
"Do you guys know how worried everyone was? You two were gone for more than ten hours, I almost had to file two missing person reports."
"We can't help ourselves if we are lost. What did you expect? So it's not exactly our——ow!"
Kenna pinched Faye's arm on the side where Ms. Edmund couldn't see.
"S-she meant that we won't let any of this happen again. We've learned what trouble we must've caused, none of this will happen again." She fixed her look as pleading as possible.
Ms. Edmund sighed again, then she went behind her desk and pulled out two trays of food with plastic wrapped around it. One labeled Kenna's name the other one labeled Faye's name. The steam was all over the plastic wrap, the food was still heated inside. It was the kind of food Kenna used to eat back at her Place of Residence.
"I really do hope this won't happen again." She eyed the two of them. "You girls must be hungry though, and starvation is never a punishment." She hands them the two trays.
Kenna's stomach grumbled with noise. It's been a while since she has actually been hungry.
"But this does not mean you won't be punished. You guys will have laundry duty for a whole week while the others will resume to other jobs."
"Ew laundry——"
"Thank you, Ms. Edmund. Me and Faye will get going then, have a good night." Kenna bowed slightly and dragged Faye out of Ms. Edmund's office before something bad came out of her mouth again.
"I can't believe we have laundry duty." Faye complained, her arms crossed together that somehow made her look prettier than she already was.
Kenna rolled her eyes. "That's all for you to blame."
Faye's expression softened as she stared at Kenna.
"I'm sorry, what happened back there...I really didn't——"
"How are you going to tell everyone about the plan under Ms. Edmund's watch?" Kenna quickly changed the topic, she didn't need to be reminded of what happened back at the river. "Your plan...it also isn't very planned out."
Her face went back to an annoyed look. "Were you even listening to what I was saying on our way back? I specifically told you everything. It's a good plan."
"I was dehydrated and tired of walking. How did you expect me to listen in that state?"
"I did the talking, didn't I? You were the listener, so in logic I should've been the more tired one. I did all the thinking too by the way." Faye snorted.
"Why didn't I see that you were so extremely annoying and obnoxious before?"
"I'm annoying and obnoxious? You're the obnoxious one here!" She pointed a finger at Kenna. "You were the one who weren't exactly listening to my plan! What could you have been thinking about anyways?"
Of you.
Kenna shook the thought away, why did that just suddenly come to her mind?
"Well maybe if you weren't so nosy and decided to listen in on what happened in my room, we won't be having this problem right now!"
