She stares at the shattered pieces of her watch on the floor, jaw dropped, her mind spinning along with her fast beating heart.
Before she can react again, Jess takes her by the arm, his grip tight and hurting her. He pulls her along with him, making them walk at a fast pace.
"Ow, you're hurting me!" Her voice sounded more painful than intended but automatically Jess lets go of her wrist. Although he still walked at a fast pace and expected her to do so too.
"I'm sorry." But he doesn't stop walking and his voice shook.
Kenna's gaze followed down to his hand where it trembled along his side.
"Jess, what's wrong? Where are we going? What is going on? Why did you destroy my watch? What is——"
"There's so much you don't know. I don't exactly know how to tell you everything, about the world we live in, Earth, Islands, the Arlen Narvaez rocks, there's so much. I can't possibly explain them all to you now. But there's one important thing you need to definitely know right now and I'm going to try and explain that to you." Jess finally stopped walking, turning around to face Kenna. His stare is serious and his arm on his side quivered.
"What are you talking about?"
Jess shakes his head in frustration and once again grabs her arm, but this time he was gentler. "I think it's better for you to see it first."
They walked at an incredibly fast pace, almost to the pace of running. Her heels clicked loud and made it hard to walk, but Jess didn't seem to notice or care. And this time though, Kenna didn't try to shake off his grip and walked right along with him despite the discomfort from her shoes. She asked questions, about a thousand ones if she could count, but Jess only stared straight ahead. She watched him, his mouth mouthing words and directions.
With Jess ignoring her and him looking extremely insane, she couldn't tell anymore if her questions were more for herself or for Jess. The questions that have been buried so deep from the thoughts and worries of the plan and Faye that are all outbursting and coming to the surface now.
After what seemed like a lifetime, Jess came to a halt. So sudden that it made Kenna smoosh and hit her face into his back.
"We're here."
Jess's grip loosens and she takes a step aside to see where 'here' means.
She's just trying to catch her breath when suddenly all she sees is a blank grey wall in front of them. She blinks, seeing if her vision is playing with her, but all she saw again was the blank grey wall. No doors, no nothing. Just a grey wall like almost the majority of this whole place.
She turns to Jess. "Jess, are you okay? There is literally nothing here."
Without responding, Jess walks up to one part of the wall. Kenna watches with annoyance, thinking that Jess has completely lost his mind and is dragging her along.
But just then, as Jess took his stance into a certain place, a blue x-ray light suddenly appeared. The light starts from his head, and scans him up and down about three or four times, lines of the blue light all over his body.
"Identity confirmed: Dr. Jess Carter, former member of Circumstantial Captivity and second trusted assistant of Dr. Mazarine Novak." A robotic voice from what sounded like the wall said after the blue x-ray lights are withdrawn.
Then, the grey walls in front of them started to form lines, creating two rectangles. The lines turn into doors and from the inside, they slide open. A cold air blows out, sending shivers and goosebumps up her bare skin that isn't covered from her dress immediately. Mists from cold or ice also start to float out, blocking the view of what's inside and leaving only the sight of small fogs and a pit of blackness and blue x-ray lights shining out.
