Yeonjun sat in the abandoned classroom - his preferred room for self-reflection and rumination - under the dimly-lit tubelights, resting his chin in the palm of his hands. With a hammering heart bouncing around in his rattling ribcage, he recalls an interview he'd had with Hueningkai yesterday, desperate to learn something about Beomgyu's their history.

"We've been together since kindergarten. In 8th grade, he started getting homeschooled due to some medical conditions, but fatefully recovered just in time to start 9th grade, turning over a new leaf. He was really bright, even then. Even though we knew each other from kindergarten, we were never really that close because of our contrasting friend groups.

"But in 9th grade, I don't know how, maybe because you entered his life and encouraged him to take chances, we started talking again. And only when we did that did we find out how much we had in common. I found myself regretting I wasn't friends with him before.

"When we were in 10th grade, he told me something serious that I wasn't ready for hearing. He said he had some kind of anxiety disorder. I didn't know what it was like, but I did everything I thought would help him: I brought him a new soft animal plushie everyday as a de-stressing mechanism. I followed him into the bathroom stalls every time he ran out the classroom because of how suffocating it was. I bought water bottles from the canteen because I knew it would be an enormous task for him to fulfill to talk to new people.

"But in the end, I couldn't help much. You can only do so much to help your friend out, but they've got to fight the real battle inside their minds. I'm just glad that he's got you to get through it all."

And that's all Yeonjun could get out of him before the janitor barged into the dark closet and gave them a "what the hell is going on here" expression.

That's when Yeonjun knew. He knew he had to do something amazing for Beomgyu in the upcoming week to get him all excited again. He wasn't ready to let go of that smiley Beomgyu that he'd grown to love.
