Beomgyu didn't want to do this, but he knew that if he didn't do it right now, he never would. So he gathered them all four of them together in the deserted classroom.

He rubbed his hands against his jeans to dry his sweaty palms. Then, clearing his throat, and staring down at the ground, he said, "I would be very thankful if you guys cancelled tomorrow's birthday celebrations." From his peripheral vision, he sees Yeonjun giving him a surprised look. "My mom and I will be going out of the country for two days, we're planning to go to a hotel for a staycation." It's such a shame that Beomgyu had to come to lying.

But why is Yeonjun still looking at him like that? Like he's able to tell all his secrets. Beomgyu's heart races as he prays to God that just for once, not to let Yeonjun see through him.

"Oh," Hueningkai was the first to break his silence. He quickly glanced around at the other three, surprise laced in his eyes. "Okay, that's alright, Beomgyu." He nods understandingly, but it was not as enthusiastically as he nods other times. "Family comes first, of course."

Taehyun is one to get straight to the point. He clicks his tongue and says, "We don't know if you know, Beomgyu, but we spent a LOT of time putting these activities together. And now you're telling us at the last minute that it's all for nothing-"

"No bother," Soobin interrupted Taehyun before he makes Beomgyu feel more guilty than he already does. He flashes Beomgyu a small smile that said it all was going to be taken care of. "That can be made up for at a later time. Tell you what, we should do a remake of your birthday party after you get back. You know, before the exams and all."

Beomgyu upholds a fake smile in front of all of them, looking at them in the eye one by one. All except Yeonjun.

"Thank you for being so understanding, guys. Really, I don't know how to repay you."

Hueningkai waves his hand dismissively and graces their ears with his grandpa laugh. "Don't you worry, it's our job as friends to assign a time for a celebration where everyone's available. You don't need to be so formal with us."

Taehyun started muttering something rapidly under his breath, something that sounded like, "I want to be angry with him but I just can't because he looks like real-life, adorable teddy bear."

Soobin gets up, extends his hand for a handshake, which Beomgyu readily holds onto. He says, "I know I haven't spent much time with you as long as the others, but I've heard Pisces and Sagittarius together can be a problematic pair. But I'm willing to prove that wrong, if you're up for it."

Yeonjun leans back and gives him a look that says, "Where on Earth are you reading this kind of stuff from?"

Taehyun clears his throat. "Shall we get back to class, then?"

Yeonjun shakes his head. "You guys go ahead, I have a free lesson right after break."

Hueningkai hums. "Beomgyu, you have chem too, right? Do you wanna go together?"

"I-"

"I'll drop him off," Yeonjun cuts him off before he could start.

Hueningkai ponders it for a moment, then shrugs and takes off with Taehyun and Soobin.

Yeonjun waited for the others to leave before he sits Beomgyu down. The first thing Yeonjun says tears Beomgyu's heart asunder. "I don't know who you were fooling there."

Beomgyu's head hangs low and he starts playing with the hem of his oversized shirt, picking off dead skin from his thumb; a nervous tactic. Noticing the sudden change in him, Yeonjun says, "Look, Beomgyu... I don't know if I'm just imagining things but it really did feel like you were lying. About the whole thing."

After getting no response from the younger, he sighs. "Just remember that anytime you want help, we're all right here. I don't know why it's taking so long to get that into your head." He ruffles up Beomgyu's hair and holds a loving stare before he realizes Beomgyu wasn't going to look up to meet his eyes.

So he said repeatedly last thing to him before he left: "Just remember we're all here for you, all right?"
