Tonight we couldn't decide on what movie to watch, so we settled on the classic, "Home Alone" to get us into the Christmasy feels and make us feel as though we're wearing the warmest sweater, even though the feeling is already achieved if we're sitting next to each other.
We made caramel popcorn, m&m pizza's, soft ice cream, frozen yoghurt and tons of other things we're not allowed to eat on a regular school day.
I fell asleep on his shoulder, but halfway through the movie I was wide awake. Not because I was invested in the movie, but because I wanted to tell Yeonjun something I didn't have the heart to tell him before.
"Yeonjun..." I say softly, trying to pry him awake from his daydreams.
"Hm?" He responded, sounding as if he's already half-asleep.
"I want to ask you something."
That's when he fully jerks awake, as if he was expecting some grand reveal or some great twist of events. His eyes are wide open now. He was obviously expecting some kind of emergency or life-changing realization. "What is it?"
"Are you really going to leave me next year when you leave for university?"
Yeonjun heaves a deep sigh and runs his hands through his blonde locks. It seems like he's practiced this question in front of a mirror many times before. "I don't want to, Beomgyu, but you know my dad. He's got this whole path laid in front of me that I don't want. Even though I didn't get a say in creating my own future, I'm scared of letting him down. Not only him but my entire family."
I nods understandingly. "I get it, you've always been one to prove to people that you've got what it takes. I'm proud of you for that, Yeonjun."
He passes me a sad smile in response, then wraps an arm around my shoulder. "But no matter what happens, I'm not forgetting you. No matter what happens."
