Locke gently whipped the horse to move forward. "Father wa— ugh never mind" knuckles sighed and he follows his father. In the tower watching the two approach a dark figure growls and walks away from the window.
Locke walks up the large stone steps as knuckles put's blankets over the horses. "Father wait!" He said and runs up the steps just as Locke pushed the large double doors open. Inside the castle seemed to be lived in yet dark with the moon lighting the halls. "Father clearly someone still lives here we need to go" knuckles begged. "If that's the case perhaps we can find your friend and maybe a living royal." Locke said then picks up a gold chalice to look at it. "Father please put that.....down" knuckles voice turned to fear and his father turns around then jumps back dropping the chalice. They gazed into glowing red eyes and heard a terrifying growl. "How dare you come into the home of the beast and try to steal!" A monster like voice boomed. "I...I wasn't going to steal anything I promise." Locke said. "LIAR!" The beast said and a large furry arm comes out of the shadows grabbing Locke by the collar of his shirt. "I shall place you in the dungeon for trespassing and theft!" He growled. "NO PUT HIM DOWN!" Knuckles yelled and the beasts eyes widen looking into knuckles scared purple eyes. "He is to be punished whereas you can go since you tried to get him to leave." The beast growled. "Then I'll take his place!" Knuckles yelled. "Knuckles no!" The beast looked at lock hearing the name then back to Knuckles. "You take his place?" He asked. "Yes as long as you let my father go" knuckles said. "Knuckles please don't do this!" "Silence! I will let him go and you stay here but you will never leave this place. Understand?" The beast said and knuckles tears up. "Yes.... You have my word..." knuckles said dealing his fate. "Very well then." The beast said and starts walking to the door carrying his father who was pleading. "Wait!" Knuckles said but the beast tossed his father out and slams the doors then locks them. Locke tried to open them but gave up and left knowing it was no use. He mounted his horse and rode off with a heavy heart. The beast turned around seeing knuckles on his knees in tears. "You didn't even let me say goodbye..... how could you not let me say goodbye since I'll never see him or my home again...." Knuckles sobbed and the beast looked down feeling guilty about what he done. "I'm sorry.... Let me.... Show you to your room..." he said and grabs a lantern the lit it up. "My room? I thought...." "Do you wish to stay in the dungeon?" The beast asked in a gentle way. "No..." "Then follow me." He said and knuckles does tears still falling. "Now the castle is your home now so you can go anywhere you like including the castle grounds. Except the north wing." The beast said. "What's in the no—" "It's forbidden" the beast growled lowly and knuckles nods. He arrived in front of double doors and opens one of them. "I will have my servants bring your stuff to your room. Goodnight" he said as knuckles walks in. The beast shuts the door and knuckles looks around the room fit for a prince. While he was happy to not be in a cold dungeon the idea of him not being home broke his heart and sat on the floor next to the bed then started crying. "If I known this was my fate I wouldn't have come..."

Meanwhile with the beast as he paced in front of the fire place he starts to think about his guests. "The name... his eyes... it just has to be him.... I mean even his selfless act seemed familiar...." He thought. "Master?" A female voice said. "Make sure he has a warm meal and have him join me for breakfast in the morning." The beast said. "Yes master" she replied and leaves. The beast goes back to thinking about the echinda and gets a flashback the festival. He saw a glimpse of the village boy and sees the grown version of him matching the echinda that is here now.

"It is him.... After so many years.... My old friend....."
