CHAPTER FIVE: WALMART BRAND CAPTAIN AMERICA
SAM AND BUCKY LOOKED AT EACH AS MAGGIE GOT OFF HER HUSBAND'S BACK.
The trio had decided to get in the car, knowing the two idiots were gonna annoy the until they reached they airport. One after the other, they got into the jeep. Maggie sat in between Bucky and Sam, holding Bucky's vibranium hand as she death stared Walker.
"Okay, so we've got eight super soldiers on a bulk supply run. Why?" Walker questioned, making Maggie and Bucky look at him.
You think these wannabes are really gonna help us? Maggie asked Bucky telepathically.
"They say their mission is to get things back to way it was during the Blip. Maybe they're just trying to help," Sam explained to Walker.
"They had a funny way of showing it," Bucky commented grumpily as Maggie squeezed his hand.
"That serum doesn't exactly have a great track record. No offense."
"And you're the Wal-Mart brand of the real Captain America," Maggie immediately shot back, defending her husband. She then gave a fake smile. "No offense."
Walker gave a fake chuckle, shaking his head. "You must be Maggie Shelby," he assumed with a smile. "It's a pleasure to meet the hero who saved the world. You're more beautiful and fierce in person."
He held out his hand to shake and Maggie looked up and down at it and his face. She then scoffed, tilting her head to the side as she gave him an ice cold glare.
"Not Shelby," was what Maggie said. She then held up her left hand, showing the wedding band on her finger. "It's Barnes."
She then gave Walker the middle finger before putting her hand back down. Bucky couldn't help but smirk, watching as Walker got nervous from being rejected.
"We need to figure out where they're going. How'd you track them here? The Flag Smashers?" Sam asked Walker and his partner.
"Uh, no, we didn't track them. We tracked you, uh, through Redwing," Hoskins said, looking very uncomfortable.
"You hacked my tech?!" Sam asked, looking very mad.
"It's not exactly hacking. It's government property. Kind of the government," Walker said as his excess.
It only made Maggie and Bucky glare at the man, making him feel uncomfortable. It was something the couple succeeded at. Especially when Maggie's head slightly tilted. A long silence took over before Walker spoke up once more, looking between Maggie and Buck both.
"Do they always just stare like that?" Walker asked Sam.
"You get used to it," Sam answered simply.
He cleared his throat, "okay, look, you know, things have been kind of, uh-"
"Chaotic?" Hoskins helped Walker, earning a nod from him
"Yeah, the GRC, they're doing the best they can to get things up and running smoothly, post Blip," Walker explained to the trio.
"Reactivating citizenship, social security, healthcare. Basically just managing recourses for the refugees who were displaced by the return." Hoskins spoke up again.
"The Global Repatriation Council does all that. I get that. So why exactly are you two here?" Sam asked confused.
"Well, they provide the recourses and we keep things stable."
