That Night~
MAGGIE LOOKED IN THE BATHROOM MIRROR AS SHE GOT READY FOR DINNER.
Emma had been dropped off at Tony and Pepper's after she came home from school. It had been awhile since her and Bucky went out on a nice date, since she always cooked for them both. On the nights she didn't cook, them and Emma ate takeout or pizza on the couch and watched television. Downtown Abbey had been the show Maggie and Bucky binged watched recently since Bucky became invested in Sybil and the chauffeur's romantic affair. Maggie found it quite funny, remembering that the show meant to take place around the time him and Steve were born.
Maggie had looked back at her and Bucky's time in that small apartment in Bucharest, looking down at the mark on her right hand. After all those years, it still looked the same. She remembered how he was once afraid of leaving that apartment and being found. And then he wasn't afraid anymore and stable and being the one asking Maggie out on dates. Maggie hadn't been more proud of Bucky, more proud to be his wife and the mother of his child, how far they had come together.
"Mags, are you ready to go?" Bucky asked, waiting out in living room.
"Yeah, I'll be out in a second," Maggie answered, checking her makeup one last time.
When Maggie stepped out of the bathroom, Bucky was speechless from the sight of her. She wore a sleeveless red dress with a small slit at the bottom and perfectly matched her sparkly champagne-colored heels, the only heels she liked to wear. Her makeup was simple, but matched the dress as well as her jewelry. She wore the charm necklace Bucky had given her, her favorite gold hoops and the engagement ring and wedding band on her finger. To Bucky, Maggie was the same woman he fell in love with in Bucharest. The most beautiful woman in the world, in his eyes.
Bucky looked handsome himself. He wore a simple black button-up shirt, with his black leather jacket, black dress pants, his nice black shoes, and his leather glove that covered his vibranium hand. He had Maggie to thank for all of those pieces of clothing, since she usually helped him pick out his clothes at the mall. He didn't dress up on occasion, but Maggie made sure he had at least a couple suits.
"Wow," was all Bucky could manage.
"So, does that mean I look okay?" Maggie asked, a teasing smile on her face.
"You look beautiful," he answered, making her cheeks turn pink. "In fact..." Bucky walked towards her slowly, wrapping his arms around her. "We could skip dinner and get to dessert," he suggested, his eyes filling with lust.
"Now now, Mr Barnes. I was promised a nice dinner and I don't know about you, but I'm starving." She put her hands on his shoulders, stopping him from kissing her neck.
"I can't help it. Not when Mrs Barnes is better than what would be on the menu." His voice was a little deeper that time before his face turned soft. "But I'll wait until later." He then kissed her forehead and proceeded to let her go.
Mario's was only a little busy that Thursday night, but Bucky made a reservation so him and Maggie didn't have to wait a long time to get a table. The night was all about him and Maggie and he wanted it to make sure it was perfect. Their waiter was quick to the table and quick to walk away after Bucky ordered Maggie's favorite red wine for them both.
