CHAPTER FIFTEEN: VIOLENCE IS NEVER THE ANSWER...IT IS THE QUESTION

MAGGIE, BUCKY, AND SAM WENT BACK TO ZEMO'S PLACE.

The trio were trying to come up with a new plan to help them get to Karli. And hopefully that plan would run smoothly without John Walker and Lemar Hoskins in the way.

After the intense moment Maggie had with Walker, she wasn't in the best mood. He had brought up the fact her entire family all because she manifested gifts when she turned five years old. Because Hydra wanted to make her into a lethal weapon so desperately.

Then Walker mentioned how Maggie almost killed Tony in Siberia when she first lost control of her powers after he tried to kill Bucky. It wasn't intentional, but all she remembered was the overwhelming feeling of protecting the man she loved. If Bucky didn't tell her to stop, she would've indeed killed Tony that day.

That fact scared her everyday. Scared that if it happened, she would've been labeled a monster. Did people truly see her as a villain? Even though when she never had a choice when Hydra took her away from everything she loved.

After they found Zemo knocked put and Karli escaped, Bucky and Sam carried the unconscious Baron back to the apartment. Zemo was placed on the couch and Sam placed an ice pack covered with a towel on his head. Bucky took Maggie out of the apartment to get some air after her little fight with Walker.

"Were you offered it?" Zemo asked Sam.

"What?" Sam turned from his laptop near the kitchen island.

"The serum."

"No."

"If you had been, hypothetically, that is, would you have taken it?"

"No."

"No hesitation. That's impressive." Zemo hummed from Sam's answer and removed the towel from his eyes.

"But neither of you can hold out hope for Karli. No matter what you saw in her, she's gone. And we cannot allow that she and her acolytes become yet another faction of gods amongst real people. Super Soldiers cannot be allowed to exist."

"Isn't that how gods talk?" Sam questioned. "And if that's how you feel, what about Buck and Mags? Blood isn't always the solution."

"Something's not right about Walker," Bucky said as him and Maggie walked into the living room, returning from their break. He shrugged his jacket off his shoulders as Maggie did the same to hers.

"You don't say," Sam stated sarcastically.

"Well I know a crazy when I see one. Because I am crazy."

Bucky walked towards the kitchen with Maggie following him. He opened a cabinet and grabbed a bottle of whiskey, making him and Maggie a glass.

"Can't argue with that."

"Shouldn't have given up the shield."

"I didn't give him the shield," Sam said, standing up from his chair.

"Well, Steve definitely didn't," Maggie sighed, siding with her husband.

After she spoke, the door busted open. John and Lemar strode in, trying to express authority.

"All right. That's it. Let's go. I'm ordering you to turn him over," John ordered, marching into the room holding the shield high.

"Ugh, why are you two still here?" Maggie groaned, pouring herself another glass of whiskey.
