Earlier that Sunday
Danielle and Brian pulled up in front of his home. Finally, he was taking her to meet his parents. Danielle felt their relationship was moving in the right direction and trusting Brian more and more each day.
As they pulled up into the driveway, Danielle could see quite a few people outside. The aroma of Barbeque immediately filled her nostrils and caused her mouth to water. She came good and hungry.
She saw a familiar face. It was Elisha walking across the lawn to the front door. She must have just got there as she saw Brian's younger brother Reese getting out of the car.
Danielle felt Brian's hand at the small of her back as they both walked to the front door, not before crossing paths with his brother Reese.
" Reese!" Brian shouted. Reese looked in his direction and headed toward them.
"This is my girl Danielle..Danielle this my brother Reese"
"Nice to meet you" Reese nodded and shook her hand. "I've heard great things about you"
"Ohhh really" Danielle raised a brow and smiled looking in Brian's direction. "Thats nice to hear" she said causing Brian to smirk.
"Its nice to meet you too".
Just then Elisha came back outside and walked over to them.
Reese reached for her hand "Bae this is Danielle, Brian's girl"
"We know each other," Elisha said looking at Reese. "Hey girl" they hugged.
Danielle gave Elisha a few light pats on the back keeping her distance.
"Oh yea that's right, Larissa is your sister" Reese said.
"Yep, she is..And do you know Brian?" Danielle asked Elisha with a smile, fluttering her lashes.
"Oh yea" Elisha smirked. "I know big head"
"Man my head smaller than yours" Brian chuckled.
"Whatever" Elisha laughed.
They headed inside and Danielle felt her anxiety rise as the house was filled with even more people talking loudly, playing cards and watching the football game. The New Orleans Saints were playing the Miami Dolphins.
Brian continued to lead Danielle through the house, finally reaching the kitchen where more people could be seen outside through the sliding glass doors.
Brian had a big family. She loved how welcoming everyone was. They were at ease being themselves, not keeping up appearances, which was a major contrast to the gatherings her mother hosted. Her parents' friends were always so uptight, bougie, bragging about their endeavors and what their kids were doing.
"Dad, this is my girl Danielle" Brian said placing a firm hand on his dad's shoulder grabbing his attention away from the pan of chicken he has drizzling barbeque sauce over.
"Hey Danielle! It's nice to meet you sweety!" His dad gave her a firm handshake.
"Its nice to meet you too, Mr. Albright"
"Call me Mr.Doug"
"Ok" Danielle smiled.
"Lorraine!" Doug shouted, startling Danielle.
"What Doug?!" Lorraine, Brian's mom shouted from their bedroom.
"Come meet Brian girlfriend!"
"Ohhhh I'm coming" She said eagerly. "He aint tell me he had a girlfriend!"
