Reese sent a text message.
Reese: Where u at ?
He waited.
Brian: I'm home why?
Reese didn't reply and instead, he reversed out of Elisha's driveway and headed for home. After walking through the door, Reese saw Brian sprawled out on the couch, scrolling through his phone.
"Hey, what's up?" Brian spoke.
"Hey"
"You needed something?"
"Nah, just wanted to hang out. It's been a while. You always got shit to do" Reese smirked.
"Well, that's how this adultin' shit go" Brian said with a smirk. "And I know you ain't talkin' Football Star.. Lover Boy" Brian chuckled, causing Reese to crack a smile.
"Maybe you should take notes," Reese replied, raising an eyebrow. "Have you talked to Danielle?"
"No. What the fuck am I supposed to say to her? I did my shit, she did hers," Brian shrugged his shoulders.
Reese nodded. "Anybody new?"
Brian snickered. "Maybe. What about you?" He smirked, his eyes sparkling with amusement.
"Whatchu mean?" Reese furrowed his eyebrows.
"Look, Elisha's alright and all, but maybe it's time to meet somebody new. How long you been with her, 2 years?" Brian asked, leaning back on the couch.
"Yea. We good man, chill on that"
"I'm just sayin man. You still young. You should be out there meeting new people. Its too many fish in the sea " Brian said, spreading his arms wide. Reese sighed, rubbing his temples.
"And tell ya ole girl to chill out wit her mouth. She mad disrespectful."
"You gotta chill too."
Brian sucked his teeth. "Man, see this the shit I be talkin' bout. She got you wrapped around her finger."
"No she don't. Yall was both disrespectful the other day. And I always gotta be the mediator."
"Well tell your girl to stop disrespectin me in my own house. Her and that lil chicken head friend of hers. I can't believe her crazy ass showed up here, throwin water and shit. David need to learn to control his bitch" Brian argued, his tone rising.
"Stop calling her out her name. That shit is unnecessary."
Brian sat up from the couch abruptly. "You ain't finna hang wit me. You on some annoyin shit today." Brian stood up from the couch and stomped into his bedroom and came back out pulling a T-shirt over his head. "I'm out."
"Where you goin?"
"I got shit to do. Ain't got time for the bullshit."
"Whatever Brian" Reese muttered, shaking his head as Brian headed for the door.
Reese sat there for a moment, lost in thought, contemplating the argument he'd just had with his brother. Ever since the altercation with his friends, Reese started to feel more and more distant from Brian. The accusations of Brian selling drugs and hitting women seemed so far removed from the brother he thought he knew. Brian felt like a stranger, not his brother anymore. He began to wonder who his brother really was. It was as if Brian was avoiding him. Then suddenly, an idea came to his mind. He was going to follow Brian.
