They were in the second quarter. Chase threw the ball to Reese, who caught the ball and took off down the field before throwing the ball to one of the running backs. He ran the ball down the field before getting tackled by a defensive player.

The score was 12 Spartans and Sharks 16.

The quarterback for the Sharks threw the ball to their wide receiver who ran the ball down the field as the Spartans chased behind him. The wide receiver was able to evade them and ran the ball into the end zone scoring a touch down.
It was now Spartans 12 and Sharks 19.
Soon it was half time and the Sharks band made their way onto the field to perform. The Spartans band made their way onto the field with full intent to show their pride for their school and remind the Sharks they were in their territory.

By the time third quarter came the Spartans were trying desperately to catch up but their score trailed behind the Sharks. With a few minutes left in the fourth quarter, the reality of defeat set in for the Spartans. The Sharks defeated them.  In the locker room, the Spartans quietly packed up to go home but not before Coach Reynolds came in to speak to them. He motivated them to work harder and to come back stronger for their game two weeks from now. Landon was welcomed back to his position as quarterback. Chase faked a smile as the team clapped for Landon's return. Reese was glad Landon was back and Chase no longer had a position he never deserved. As much as Reese wanted to blame their defeat on Chase he knew that was not fair. You win some, you lose some, and you just have to get back up and try again.

Before leaving the school, Jason searched for Kendra. When he found her talking to her friends, he walked over to them catching their eye as he did.

"Hey Jason, sorry about tonight" Elisha said giving a half smile.

"Its alright, we can't win em' all right"He said. "Can I borrow your friend real quick" He asked.

"Only if you promise to bring her back" Larissa joked raising an eyebrow.

"Now, I can't promise you that" He joked causing them all to laugh.

Kendra smiled up at him as she walked off with him.

"So I didnt get to see you after your test. How did it go?"

"It went OK, I think. I felt prepared thanks to you" she smiled.

"I'm glad you did. I want to take you out tomorrow to celebrate."

"I dont even know if I passed yet" she giggled.

"I know you did. You did more than passed. You aced it."

"How are you so sure of that?"

"Because you're smart." He smiled down at her.

"Well I'm glad you have so much faith in me Mr.Jason."

"Do you have that much faith in yourself ?"

She paused to ponder that. "I guess so"

"You guess? You should always believe in yourself."

"I know. You're right. I'm working on that. " She nodded looking down at her feet.

"So I'll pick you up at 6. Is that ok?" He asked.

"Yea and where are we going and what are we doing?"

"I told you..it's a surprise."

"Okayyy. How should I dress?"

" Wear whatever you want"

"Ok. I can't wait" she smiled and he smiled back. His gaze traveled to her lips for a few seconds before he spoke again.

"Do you need a ride home?"

"Oh, no that's ok, my mom and stepdad are here".

"Alright good night beautiful, I'll see you tomorrow" He said as they hugged.

He relished the feeling of holding her in his arms and she also basked in the feeling of his strong arms around her body. She felt wanted, safe, and understood. She felt like she could trust him.
