51: 𝘔𝘪𝘥𝘯𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵 𝘣𝘭𝘶𝘦

Charlotte led the two into a decorated fitting area. The walls were adorned in a soft white wood paneling, with no signs of slightest damage to it. The shimmery chandelier on the ceiling hung directly above the round, fluffy carpet with a glass table on top and a white leather couch.

From the white couch - on which Alice and Rafe sat down together - they had a direct view at a large door, behind which the actual changing room was probably hidden.

If Alice had her way, it would have been enough for her to choose her dress in one of the shops in Figure Eigth, because this one exceeded even her expectations.

She looked after Charlotte, who left the two alone for a moment. „I can't believe you did this"

„Did what?" Rafe leaned his head against the backrest and swiveled it over to look at her.

„Everything" She drew a circle in the air around the room with her finger. „how long have you been planning this?"

He shrugged with a pout. „I wanted to take you to Summernights anyway, I knew you still needed a dress, I asked a friend, called here and now we're sitting here"

„Asked a friend?" Alice frowned curiously.

„Sofia" He replied with a nod. „she said you'd definitely find something here"

„Sofia as in bartender Sofia?"

„Yeah, why?"

„I didn't know you were friends"

With a grin, Rafe draped his arm over the backrest, brushing against the exposed skin of Alice's shoulder. „do I hear jealousy?"

„No." She shook her head. Very believable.

„We're not even really friends, we just talked the other day when I was golfing with the boys and then the topic came up" Rafe explained, tapping his fingertips on her shoulder. „and Kelce is after her, so I wouldn't stand a chance even if I wanted to"

She raised her eyebrows in surprise, which immediately fell back into a frown. „Kelce and Sofia?"

„Well, it's more of a Kelce tries and Sofia rejects kind of thing"

„So he doesn't have a Summernights date yet?"

„Nope, just like Top cause' my sister is such a great person" Rafe sighed and shook his head. „I'll never get what he was thinking when he dated her"

Alice thoughtfully played with the darker strands of hair on the back of Rafe's head. She liked Topper, even though they rarely spoke because he had just been her best friend's boyfriend for all these years, but she definitely cared about Kelce. Maybe he was a complete idiot, but he was a funny idiot.

„You know what, I think I have an idea" She said musingly.

„What?" Rafe looked at her with interest.

„Alright lovebirds" Charlotte trilled as she came in and cut off their conversation. „we found a few dresses, now all that's left is trying them on. You two can make yourself comfortable here later, now let's get to work"

Alice stood up from the couch with a chuckle and leaned down to Rafe and planted a quick kiss on his lips. „we'll talk about it later"

Charlotte opened the large door for her, which had hidden a spacious room. On the far left wall was a huge mirror with white lighting, and right next to it was a comfortable-looking armchair, which she would certainly need. On the right there were poles with all sorts of dresses hanging on them.

The selection was gigantic and Alice's stress level...increased.

Of course it was great to wear the dresses at the end, but the whole fitting process was pure horror.
