Her phone buzzed loudly on the white wood pf her bedside table. A sound so harsh that Alice turned around in her warm, cozy, impossible-to-leave bed and pulled the blanket closer over herself.
After everything that had happened last night, she had barely slept.
It was these many thoughts that made her restless. On the one hand, her parents - or rather her dad - who had asked her thousands of questions about Rafe and how he had treated her so far, as if something in him wanted to make sure that his daughter was in the right hands. On the other hand, she preferred these many questions to being punished with the silence treatment, which her brother had been doing since he found out.
Thanks to Sarah.
She sank deeper into her pillow and kept her heavy eyelids closed as the buzzing finally stopped. It was just her, the drawn blinds of her dark room and her warm bed that she wouldn't leave today.
Her phone began to vibrate again.
Alice groaned tiredly and fumbled for her phone, answered it and put it to her ear. „what?"
„Good morning" He laughed on the other end of the line. „half past twelve and still sleeping, that's a new record, baby"
„You woke me up" She whined, rubbing her eyes.
„Good."
With a yawn, Alice sat up in her bed and ran a hand through her tousled hair. Maybe she even smiled a little, because hearing Rafe's voice right after she woke up...had its effect.
Even if he called to wake her up.
„I'll be there in twenty minutes" Rafe announced, finally making her realize that it sounded like he was in his car.
„Be where?" She frowned in confusion.
„Your house"
She froze in her movements and knew she looked literally shaken, her hair undone and her face still puffy, not at all how she wanted to face her boyfriend. „Rafe, no."
„Don't tell me no" He warned sternly. „we're going somewhere"
„What about breakfast, I can't go without eat-"
„We can go have breakfast, now stop making excuses"
Alice sighed and rolled her eyes, which luckily for her he couldn't see. „okay fine, but I need more than twenty minutes to get ready"
„You don't need twenty minutes to put on some clothes, Alice" Rafe argued.
„But to put on some make up" She shot back and slipped out of her bed, missing it's warmth right away.
„I like you without"
„You do, I don't" She pulled up the blinds and narrowed her eyes at the bright sunlight falling in trough her windows. „you'll have to wait for me"
„Are your parents home?"
Alice looked out into the garden and spotted her mom kneeling in front of the pretty flower bed, which no one was allowed to touch except her.
„Yeah, but it's not like we're a secret anymore"
„Fine." Rafe gave in with a sigh. „I'll wait, but start getting ready now"
„Wait, where are we-„ Her words were cut off by Rafe abruptly ending the call, leaving her with a endless line of annoying beeps.
Alice threw her phone back on her bed and headed straight for her bathroom, wondering what Rafe had planned for the day. She had never seen him as a...spontaneous romantic.
