𝐓𝐖𝐄𝐍𝐓𝐘 𝐍𝐈𝐍𝐄 ~ 𝑬𝑫𝑰𝑻𝑬𝑫

As dawn broke, the soft golden rays of the sun streamed through the expansive windows, flooding the room with a warmth that gently coaxed me from the depths of slumber. My eyelids fluttered open, momentarily overwhelmed by the brightness, and I rolled onto my back, stretching my arms wide, welcoming the new day.
"Happy to see you are awake, love."
My heart quickened at the sound of his voice. Turning my head to the right, I found him perched on the daybed, leaning forward with his elbows resting on his thighs. His appearance was disheveled—his hair tousled and eyes heavy with exhaustion, yet he wore a different outfit from the night before, hinting at secrets I longed to unravel.
"Where have you been?" The words escaped my lips, a question that had been clawing at my throat since he walked out the door yesterday. I refused to dance around the truth; I demanded clarity.
"I expected that question." He rose and began to pace the length of the room, each footfall heavy with a tension that filled the air between us. His voice was steady, but I sensed an undercurrent of unease.
"How important was it that you had to leave me at such a time?" I pressed, my heart pounding as I sought answers.
A deep sigh escaped him, and I watched as he turned his back to me, a wall of silence building between us.
"Rachel," he growled, finally facing me again, his expression unreadable. "I’m not ready to tell you about that right now. Why don’t we just head downstairs for breakfast and—"
"But I’m ready to hear about whatever went on last night, Rolf." My brows knitted together in frustration, my anger simmering just beneath the surface.
In a heartbeat, he was beside me, his presence overwhelming. He loomed over me, his nostrils flaring, his face a mask of stone. "I said, I’M NOT READY TO TELL YOU ABOUT THAT. It clearly means I don’t want to discuss it."
The fire ignited further within me. "What the hell is wrong with you? Quit talking to me that way!" My words were sharp, matching the intensity of his anger.
"Fuck! Fuck! Fuck!" His voice was a low growl now, his complexion flushed with a mixture of frustration and something else I couldn’t quite place.
"I’m sorry, babe… I—"
I reached for him, my palms cradling his cheeks, seeking to bridge the chasm of misunderstanding that had sprung up between us. "Talk to me, what’s bothering you?" My tone softened, imploring him to share the weight he carried.
"I’m just having a bad hair day already, but I promise I’ll tell you…" His voice trailed off, but my gaze caught something on his neck. My breath hitched as I noticed the unmistakable mark—a crimson hickey, bold and glaring against his skin.
"What is this?" I demanded, my face contorting with indignation.
He frowned, confusion flickering in his eyes. "What?"
"It appears to me that you have a hickey. So, who is it from?" My arms fell to my sides, my pouting lips betraying my simmering rage.
"La dracu," (Fuck) he muttered, lowering his gaze as if the weight of the world pressed down on him.
Desperate for answers, I folded my arms tightly, my heart racing. "You need to explain how you got that hickey on your neck!"
He pinched the bridge of his nose, frustration etched into his features. "I was with Detrisha last night and—"
