"Tell me something that I'll have to forget."

Shota's ears rang.

Athena was slumped on the ground, red blood trickling from her forehead into a dark puddle that was barely distinguishable from the rust-colored concrete floor.

"Shota," Hizashi hissed, his fingers gripping tightly to the inside of Shota's forearm. "We need to get her out of there."

The crowd was screaming loudly, feet stomping as people roared in excitement.

"Why the hell did she get in there in the first place?" Shota growled, shoving through the crowd. He tucked his face down into his scarf to keep from being seen. Getting back into the ring was nowhere in their plan; he hadn't been expecting everything to go to shit so quickly, and this was probably one of the worst outcomes.

They had already taken down the guards on the uppermost floors, working their way down to assist Athena. She was supposed to stall.

"Shota, you have to focus," Hizashi murmured. His hair was down, blonde locks draping to cover his glowing green gaze, anger written across his face.

Hizashi was right, of course. Shota shook his head, drawing his eyes away from the crowd and up to the box, where Aku stared down at Athena. No smirk or smile, no glee from capturing an old prize. No satisfaction.

His gaze was cold. Empty.

Aizawa reached for the blue shard tucked away in his belt when a loud click echoed above the screams and Shota glanced back down to Athena. A thick collar was situated around her neck, the red light blinking to show it was active, and the shard fizzled away before he could shatter it.

"Fuck," he swore, tearing through the crowd after Hizashi with more fervor. He moved towards Aku, following as the man turned his back to move out of the sea of bodies. Shota tamped down on his rage, trying to keep himself from being noticed by the villain's quirk.

There had been more guards on the upper floors than anticipated. He knew they were there. He probably assumed that Shota and Hizashi were already accounted for and taken care of.

He followed silently until Aku paused in an open room. There was a large wooden desk at the center, facing the door. The floor was coated in a dark red carpet and gold moldings decorated the walls. They had dragged Athena's limp frame and tossed her haphazardly onto the floor.

Shota leaned into a shadow. There was a significant amount of muscle in the room, more than Shota had anticipated. Clearly Aku was taking no chances with Athena. Hizashi was on the other side of the doorway, watching Shota for the signal.
