"I called your name, 'till the fever broke."
Hozier, In the Woods Somewhere

The post-mission felt faster than the weeks leading up to it.

Athena found herself back in recovery with a major concussion, cracked ribs, and electrical burns across her throat. Despite their protests, she insisted she do it on her own, and instead found an apartment a few streets down from Shota and Hizashi's.

She didn't realize how lonely living on her own was. In the months she had spent with Hizashi and Shota, she had gotten used to the bustle of their apartment. Even with replacing their shards, feeling their faint presence just a few buildings down, she felt cold, isolated.

Her new apartment was empty, save the bright orange lovechair Hizashi had annoyingly chosen as a housewarming gift. It sat like an eyesore in the corner of her living room, taunting her with the life she had lived over the past three months, now lost to the emptiness of her isolation.

Of course, it didn't mean the duo would ever let her be isolated. After several minutes of nagging from Hizashi and a steely look from Shouta, Athena was forced to agree to weekly dinners.

It was... nice. Having people reach out. Athena couldn't go more than a couple hours with a text in their groupchat- a photo of a cat that Shota saw on patrol, or Hizashi at the radio station.

At the moment, she wished one of them was with her.

Instead, she sat across Nezu's comically large desk, the rodent's tiny paws clasped together to the best of his ability without any fingers.

"I must say Ms. Kiritani," Nezu began. "You are quite skilled. It is a shame we are losing your talents."

"The case is over," Athena shrugged. "My license will expire in six months. I'm not really looking to get an actual hero license either. Nor do I have the time to put in the hours outside of the office."

Nezu hummed.

"I'd like to offer you a position here."

Athena blanked.

"What?"

"It would be a simple quirkless combat teaching position," Nezu smiled. "Your hand-to-hand combat is unrivaled."

"Why?" Athena floundered.

"Your skill is one the hero world would greatly miss," Nezu spoke softly. "These children can benefit from learning from you. It will count as hours, and you could work towards your license."

"But to be more truthful," Nezu smiled sharply. "I want to pick your quirk apart. Multidimensional travel is an incredible skill, one you haven't had the opportunity to explore or harness properly."
