Authors note: so I came up with this idea a while ago I just haven't had time to do it but now that I do, so I hope you guys like it, so this one shot is based off of technically episode three of season six because it's right after Jay got shot and Al died so I hope you like it

Erin's pov: it's been over a year and a half since I left Chicago. I really don't regret leaving because I needed it to get away from my mother. The only thing I miss from Chicago is Jay I hated to leave him the way I did but I took Hanks advice about not looking back but right now my life in New York has been pretty great so I'm glad I took his advice, right now I'm at work doing some paperwork when all of a sudden my phone rings

E= Hank what's up why are you calling me all of a sudden
HV= well first of all I'm sorry I had to tell you over the phone like this, but Alvin died about a month ago
E= wait, no way why am I only finding out about this now not a month ago when it happened
HV= I'm sorry about that Erin but there has been a lot of stuff that has happened since Alvin died
E= oh, really, so what has gone on
HV= well first the higher-ups wanted to come after me
E= when are they not coming after you?
HV= well the reason they were coming out to me this time is because I supposedly shot the person who got Alvin killed in prison and not in self-defense mode because someone watched when I shot the person and didn't see no gun so they had to investigate more
E= wait back up. Why was Alvin in prison? What did he do?
HV= oh yeah, I forgot you don't know, so Alvin took the blame for killing Kevin Bingham, the person who killed Justin
E= wait as far as I know, the cops only found his body and nothing else
HV= yeah well things took a turn all because of detective Denny Woods
E= wait I thought we got him took him down
HV= we did, but he found his way back in and made it to the higher-ups in the department
E= oh man that sucks
HV= oh yeah and when everybody was looking at me, I had to step down from being the boss, so Antonio had to step up
E= of course, and let me guess not everybody like him being in charge
HV= oh yeah, I bet you can guess who didn't like it the most
E= my guess is either Jay or Adam
HV= well you are right about Adam he didn't like that Antonio was in charge that him and Antonio got into multiple fights over how to do the work and one of the fights ended up being a physical fight
E= oh my God please tell me they stop fight
HV= as of right now yes they have
E= that's good to hear
HV= so since you mentioned Jay, that actually brings me to the other reason why I'm calling you
E= OK so what's going on with him?
HV= so first I'm going to tell you what happened since you left
E= all right I'm kind of scared, but go ahead
HV= so about a month after you left, we went to go with some bad guys. We ended up in a gunfight we got them but where J and Haley was shooting the bad guys at was an undercover daycare center
E= oh no, don't tell me one of the kids got hurt in the crossfire
HV= sadly, a little girl did get hurt and she ended up dying
E= oh man how sad so I bet one of the gangbangers bullets hit her in the crossfire, right
HV= actually, it came back that the bullet she got hit with a 9mm which is what we are used and it turned out. It was Jay's gun.
E= are you kidding me let me guess Jay didn't take that well
HV= not really , but he got through it
E= that's good to hear, so what else has Jay gone through since I left?
HV= so the next thing that happened with him happened about six months after that first incident
E= OK what was the incident?
HV= so Jay got involved in a case where he met a guy that was also an ex army guy in the case ended up with the guy getting killed where Jay was there when he got killed
E= and of course he didn't take it well
HV= no it got worse this time
E= oh, really how so
HV= so Jay ended up getting close with the army guys sister and they started dating but then something else happened
E= I'm scared to know but go ahead
HV= the sister ended up getting involved with dealing drugs and got Jay somewhat involved
E= oh my God how much did she drag him in she was doing
HV= I really don't know but eventually I got to finally take her down
E= that's good, but I bet he didn't like it
HV= oh no he didn't. He started to act different at work so I sent him to a therapist to see if that would help at first he was against going.
E= of course he was typical jay
HV= oh yeah, but he finally came around then he was good until about last week
E= all right, so what happened last week?
HV= well firehouse, 51 and most of the fire department responded to this high-rise fire in downtown Chicago and come to realize that building that they responded to is where Jay and Will's father lives
E= wait a minute I thought their dad lived in a house in the suburbs in the middle of Canary Ville
HV= he did, but his health started to get worse, and Jay decided to move him to an apartment where it was easier to handle being there by himself
E= that makes sense
HV= so Dad was in the fire and he got smoke damage in his lungs, so they brought him to med
E= well that's good, so is Pat OK?
HV= he isn't while he was in the hospital dealing with the smoke inflation. He went into cardiac arrest. They got him back, but it was too late. His was without oxygen for way too long.
E= oh my God jay and will
HV= oh yeah, and it caused some tension between Will and Jay
E= oh, really how come
HV= so I guess we wanted to pull the plug wide away and let their dad go
E= but Jay didn't want to did he
Hv= oh yeah, well eventually Jay came around and they said goodbye to him
E= but let me guess Jay wanted to find out who set the fire and go after them
HV= oh yeah well when he found out the fire was arson and who did it we tried to locate him and when we found out where he was, I decided in that moment that Jay was too emotionally involved and that I should pull Jay off the case
E= that's good. I'm glad you did that.
HV= well Jay found a way to find himself
E= how is that?
HV= well I guess at some point Kelly told Jay he will help find out who did this, so he took Kelly up on his offer and called him when I left him behind
E= back up what in the world does Kelly have to do with this whole scenario?
HV= so Kelly's girlfriend Stella got hurt in the fire so he wanted justice for the person who started the fire to cause her to be in the hospital like she was
E= OK that makes sense
HV= well when Kelly came to where Jay was, I guess Kelly let him borrow his way that he had, and they just kept listening through the radio via the radio contact via the police and found out where the guy was and when Jay saw him he started running and Jay after him and the dude pulled his gun and started shooting so Jay shot back
E= what oh my God is he OK?
HV= yes he is the bullets hit his vest and went all the way through on the shoulder. All we got was some bruised ribs
E= oh, that's good to hear thank God
HV= so I'm pretty much calling you because honestly he's going down a wolf road right now and I think he needs to see you to get himself back to his normal self, so is there a chance that you can come to Chicago and visit Jay and get him in a better mind. Space.
E= I don't know Hank I am pretty busy right now at work
HV= I understand but he needs someone like you to help him
E= I'll think about it
HV= all right thanks kid. Sorry to call you with all this information so late.
E= it's all right I'm glad you called to let me know what was going on because I still care about Jay even if we're not together anymore and care about you and everybody else so talk to you later later
HV= all right talk soon
