Souji: So my skills don't get rusty and let my mind free. I go once in a while in the morning since no one is there.
Iris (near the sports building): Won't your friend be in trouble?
Souji: My friend is the captain so you already have permission. (open the door) Let's go.
(sport building Kendo room)
Souji (walking out changing room wearing royal blue kendogi and black hakama): I hate wearing these.
Iris (sitting on the floor a few distance away): Why are you wearing it?
Souji: Kendo is related to the samurai generation so the head teacher thought wearing their clothes would be interesting.
Iris (notice Souji katana): Shouldn't you use a wooden katana?
Souji: It's fine. I can do what I want since there are no Kendo members here.
When Souji grabs the handle of his katana Iris notices his eyes dim like he was out of the kill. However, to Souji's eyes, he was surrounded by boys who had a few of them holding a weapon.
Iris: Souji?
Unknown girl's voice (near Iris's ear whispering): Stay silent or you might die.
(through Souji's eyes in the past street passage)
Three boys are carrying guns, five boys holding knives, and two boys holding nothing. The five boys ran towards Souji so he dodged three before using the dull side of his katana to knock the knives out of the two boys. He then knocked those two boys out by hitting their back head.
Souji: Try harder.
The three boys with the guns shot a bullet but Souji dodged before kicking one of them away hitting a wall. He then grabs the second boy's wrist to flip him over before using his sheath to hit that boy's stomach. However, Souji soon got shot in his right top leg before one of the three knife boys ran towards him stabbing his left shoulder. Souji quickly bends down tripping the two boys who injured him to make them drop their weapons.
Souji (smiling while taking the knife out after standing): It's nice to see people use their brains for once.
The two boys with no weapon charge in but Souji uses his sheath to hit the left boy in the stomach before hitting the right boy on the hip.
Souji (sheath his katana): Two left.
One of the knife boys charged in so Souji dropped his katana using his fist to punch that boy's stomach making that boy drop his knife.
Souji (look at the last boy): Looks like you're the last one. Will you fight or will you run?
The boy drops his knife and runs away but Souji grabs his katana before unsheathing his weapon while running after the boy. He soon stopped the boy having his blade near the neck before he fell to his knees.
(present college sport building Kendo)
Iris (running to Souji after he went on one knee): Souji.
Unknown girl's voice: Wait!
Souji quickly turned around unsheathing his katana to unleash a diagonal slash but Iris was able to step away to dodge. When he stood up she noticed his dull eyes before her own eyes change having the pupils sharp.
Unknown girl's voice (at the same time hitting a wooden katana on the ground): Enough!
Souji (and Iris's eyes return to normal): What was I doing?
Iris (in her mind): That feeling when I look at his eyes made me switch to my survival instincts.
Unknown girl's voice (walking into the light): You two are so hopeless. (look at Souji) Maybe you should have explained what you were doing so you both didn't end up killing each other. (look at Iris after she stops walking) Is this your friend?
Souji (sheathing his katana): Yes. This is Iris.
Iris: Not to be rude but who is she?
Ruby (unknown girl voice): My name is Ruby Starlight. I'm a friend of Souji and the captain of the Kendo class.
Ruby has red mid-back length hair having her hair in a loose down ponytail and light blue eyes. She's wearing red kendogi, and white hakama while holding a wooden katana.
Iris (look at Ruby): So she's the girl you were talking about. So what was Souji doing?
Ruby: Souji went back into one of his memories of fighting people. Each time he does this Souji gets a different memory.
Iris: Can you explain why he was holding his katana like he's about to unsheathe it?
Ruby: It's a sigh. While watching Souji from a distance if he unsheathes his katana it means he killed someone and I have to end the training.
Iris: Training?
