Souji: Let's not call it that. When we started I had to do this three times a week but after I got better I was told I would have to do this once every few months.
Ruby: My father is a doctor so the things he says will work on a few people. However, you do come here to swing your katana around.
Souji: It's so I don't forget how to use my katana since I don't use it much.
Iris: Sorry for interrupting but why do we have to stay quiet when Souji did that thing?
Ruby: So people who do this can concentrate on feeling like they're actually there. However, before you do this we need to see how bad your mind is.
Iris: Is my mind messed up?
Souji: She doesn't mean it in a bad way. Ruby means they'll see how bad your past affects your mind so they can find an easy way to help instead of making it worse.
Iris (in her mind) So it's a mind check-up.
Ruby (grabs Iris's hand): I hope you can accept me as your friend.
Iris: I know this is risky but can we try it?
Souji: I don't know.
Ruby: Let's try. I'll report it to my father. (look at Souji) As long as you're here Souji you can protect me.
Souji: Are we doing this or am I taking Iris away? We don't have that much time left.
Ruby (sitting on her knees): Come lay on my lap. (gentle voice after Iris lies down having her head on her lap) Now close your eyes. (while Iris closes her eyes) Go deep into your memory of the past.
(in Iris's mind)
Iris (walking): Where am I?
After walking for a bit Iris ended up stopping after a bright light appeared. Iris realized she was in her parent's house in her younger appearance.
(past Iris's parent house front room)
Dad (in the kitchen room with her mum): What's this? Where's my drink?
Mum: I'm sorry but I don't have enough money to buy your drinks.
Dad (throws a glass cup on the ground making it break): That's not good enough. You've become useless to me after you left the gang.
Mum: I'm trying to make things work but money keeps getting tight and I'm trying to make things last until I get paid next.
Dad (open the door): Having this talk is pointless. I have stuff to do. (notice Iris before touching her head) Go play with your toys. Daddy will be going out for a bit.
(Kitchen)
Mum (after Iris took a small peak from the door seeing her sitting at the table being down): Why are you like this? You drank so much you forgot how much money you took from me. You care more about your gang than your family. (crying) Where did I go wrong? I thought things would get better after having Iris.
(present Kendo room)
Iris (tears drop from one of her eyes): Mother. Don't cry.
Souji: Ruby that's enough. Wake Iris up.
Ruby: Iris (click her finger) wake up.
Iris (having dull eyes after opening them): Where am I?
Souji (on one knee): Do you remember who I am?
Iris (eyes normal while looking at Souji): Your Souji and (look at Ruby) she's Ruby.
Souji (after sighting): Don't scare me like that.
Ruby (after Iris sits up): Let's wait a bit longer before we do this again. The sign you showed when you woke up was bad. I'll try making an appointment with my father but I wanted to see if you have any side effects during this week.
Souji (stands before helping Iris stand up by taking her hand): I'll let you know.
Ruby (after standing): Before you leave can we exchange phone numbers?
Iris (look at Ruby): Sure.
Souji: I'll send you her phone number Ruby.
Ruby: Kay. (while Souji and Iris leave) Let's hang out one day.
(canteen building)
Souji (passes Iris a water bottle wearing his collage outfit): Here.
Iris (taking the bottle while at a table): Thank you. (while Souji sat next to her after putting his sword bag down) So how do you know Ruby?
Souji (while Iris takes a sip of water): We're childhood friends and she is my neighbor. However, the way I was in high school I wouldn't be surprised if she hated me. The day I decided it was going to be my last fight I got injured bad. It was just me against two gangs but suddenly Ruby appeared saving me and we both survived.
Iris: Does Ruby also carry a weapon?
Souji: She does. Ruby is like my shadow. The only thing you need to know is that she assisted my father too.
Iris: I see.
Souji (look at Iris): Are you still thinking about what Ruby did?
Iris: No. I wasn't thinking about that. I was thinking about what happened before Ruby stopped us. When I look at your eyes when you attack me my survival instincts kick in.
Souji: Survival instincts?
