Iris (after the nurse went in the room): If my mum wakes up she only has three or four years left. (tears drop) Am I too late to fix the distance between us?
Souji (hugs Iris by the neck): Nothing too late.
(Iris's mum's room)
Nurse (looking at Iris's mum seeing her eyes open while holding a clipboard): You should be resting.
Iris's mum (lying in bed having an oxygen mask on): I know I don't have that much time left. Do you still have the thing I gave you?
Nurse: I do.
Iris's mum: I'm so happy my daughter made friends and I was able to see one of them. (in her mind closing her eyes before falling asleep) I wanted to ask for your name before I moved on boy.
When the heart monitor reached zero Iris rushed in before seeing her mum's face covered by the blanket. Souji soon entered looking at her mum before Iris ran out crying.
Souji (in his mind gripping the sword bag strap): From your last words I'll protect Iris and put your husband in jail.
Nurse: Can you check on Iris? I need to get something.
Souji: Okay.
(night roof)
Souji (after opening the door): There you are. (walking towards Iris) I had to check each floor to find you because you weren't answering your phone.
Iris: I wanted to speak to my mum one more time. (look at Souji) Should I just join her?
Souji (walking to Iris while the wind blows): Your mother wanted you to keep on living. (standing in front of Iris) With her last words, she asks me to protect you.
Iris (look at Souji): From what?
Souji: From whoever tries to hurt you.
Iris (after turning around): I can fight on my own so forget what my mum said.
Souji: Iris. Sometimes you can't do everything on your own. As your friends, we can help you. So please allow me to use my blade to protect you.
Iris (after sighing): Fine but you have to show me how to use a weapon.
Souji: Let's talk to Ruby about that.
Iris (on her phone sending something): Can you tie my hair into this?
Souji (looks at his phone seeing a picture of kid Iris after getting a notification): Aww so cute.
Iris: If you send that picture to anyone you're getting a punch to the face.
Souji: Can I send it to Ruby?
Iris: I'll allow that but you better explain.
Souji (smiling): I will. (in his mind while touching Iris's hair) Iris's hair is so smooth.
Iris (in her mind): It's so weird having a boy touch my hair.
Souji: Can I ask why you want your hair to be in that style?
Iris: My mum used to do that hairstyle for me when I was a kid. (pass two red hair bands) Use these.
Souji (in his mind): Did she buy them to ask her mum to do her hair?
Iris (while Souji takes the red hair bands): I stopped this hairstyle at the end of primary school because I thought it was too childish for high school.
Souji (stepping back after finishing typing the second ponytail): I don't think it's childish. It suits your outfit.
Iris (turns around looking at Souji having her hair in two ponytails on the side leaving the rest out): You think?
Souji: I do.
Nurse (walking to them): Sorry for interrupting but I have something to give you from your mother.
Iris (while the nurse pass a letter): My mum left something for me.
Iris's mum's voice (after Iris opens the letter): Dear Iris. I left this letter in my friend's care so she can give it to you after finding out that I have a heart condition but when you read this I have already left this world. I'm sorry I haven't been with you this past year but I hope you can find a friend you can trust and if you have. Show them to me. I have one request and that is to stay strong. Things may get tough but you can find a way to overcome them.
Iris (in her mind): Even though you're gone. I can still believe in you from the other side.
Nurse (pass a gift box): Your mother also had this specially made.
Iris took the box and after opening it she saw a black cat shape necklace with purple eyes. When she notices an outline on the side Iris opens the pendant revealing a picture of her mum.
Iris's mum's voice (after picking up a note): Ps, I had this made so you can remember me and how I'm always there.
Souji: Want me to put it on you?
Iris: Yes, please.
Nurse (while Souji put the necklace on Iris): There's a taxi waiting for you at the front of the hospital. Make sure you both get back safe.
Souji: Don't worry we will.
