—— Seori
As I descended the stairs to retrieve Jungwon's keys, I heard the murmur of voices coming from the living room. Curiosity piqued, I paused on the staircase, silently eavesdropping on the conversation between Jungwon and my mom.
"...just want what's best for her, and if things were to progress between you two... I'm not sure I could approve of it," my mom's voice drifted towards me, her tone filled with concern and hesitation.
My heart sank as I listened to her words, a knot forming in my stomach. I knew my mom cared deeply for me, but her reservations about my relationship with Jungwon weighed heavily on my mind. I couldn't help but feel a pang of guilt for putting her in such a difficult position.
Jungwon's response was barely audible from my vantage point on the stairs, but I could sense the seriousness in his tone. His words were measured, his voice filled with a sense of understanding and respect.
As I listened, a mixture of emotions washed over me – uncertainty, fear, and a deep-seated longing for things to work out between Jungwon and me. I couldn't deny the feelings I had for him, nor could I ignore the challenges that lay ahead.
But in that moment, as I stood on the staircase, eavesdropping on the conversation below, I knew one thing for certain – whatever the future held, I was willing to fight for our relationship, to navigate the obstacles and uncertainties together with Jungwon by my side.
After Jungwon left the house, I retreated back to my room, my mind swirling with thoughts and emotions. Unable to shake off the weight of my mom's words, I decided to FaceTime Jungwon, needing to talk to him about what had transpired and to see if he was willing to fight for us, for our love.
As the call connected, my heart pounded in my chest, my hands trembling with nervous anticipation. When Jungwon's face appeared on the screen, I could see the concern in his eyes, mirrored by the turmoil in my own.
"Seori, hey," he greeted softly, his voice filled with warmth and affection. "Is everything okay?"
Tears welled up in my eyes as I struggled to find the words to express my fears and uncertainties. "Jungwon, my mom... she told you she doesn't approve of us," I managed to choke out, my voice trembling with emotion. "Are you... are you going to fight for us?"
There was a brief pause as Jungwon's expression softened, his gaze locking with mine through the screen. "Seori, of course I'm going to fight for us," he replied earnestly, his voice unwavering. "I love you, and nothing is going to change that."
His words hit me like a tidal wave, washing over me with a wave of relief and gratitude. Tears streamed down my cheeks as I struggled to compose myself, overwhelmed by the depth of his love and commitment.
"Why are you crying?" Jungwon asked gently, confusion evident in his tone. "I told you I love you."
Unable to contain my emotions any longer, I let out a choked sob, my heart overflowing with love and gratitude. "I'm crying because... because I love you too," I confessed, my voice barely above a whisper. "And knowing that you're willing to fight for us means everything to me."
In that moment, as I bared my soul to Jungwon through the screen, I felt a sense of peace wash over me. Despite the challenges and uncertainties that lay ahead, I knew that as long as we had each other, we could overcome anything.
As we continued our FaceTime call, Jungwon, ever the sweet and caring boyfriend, attempted to lighten the mood after my emotional moment. His playful attempt at making me laugh brought a faint smile to my tear-streaked face.
