—— Seori

As Jungwon and I lay comfortably against the headboard, I relished the calmness of the moment. However, the tranquility was suddenly interrupted by the familiar ringtone of Jungwon's phone. He groaned softly, reluctantly reaching over to grab it from the nightstand.

"Who could be calling at this hour?" he muttered, his tone laced with mild irritation. He glanced at the screen and saw Jake's name flashing. With a resigned sigh, he swiped to answer, holding the phone up so we were both in view.

"Hey, Jake," Jungwon greeted, trying to keep his annoyance at bay.

The moment Jake's face appeared on the screen, his eyes widened, and he burst into laughter. "Oh my god, Jungwon, what on earth are you wearing?" he guffawed, clutching his sides. "Is that a headband? And a face mask?"

I couldn't help but chuckle at Jake's reaction, though I felt a bit of sympathy for Jungwon. He looked over at me with a mock-pout, clearly exasperated by Jake's antics.

"What do you want, Jake?" Jungwon asked, his tone a mix of annoyance and amusement.

Jake finally managed to compose himself, wiping away tears of laughter. "I was just calling to ask why you're not at the race. It starts in ten minutes, man. Everyone's wondering where you are."

Jungwon's expression softened slightly as he glanced down at me, then back at the screen. "I'm not coming to the race tonight," he said firmly.

Jake's eyes widened in exaggerated shock. "What? But you never miss a race! What's going on? Are you seriously ditching us for a skincare session?" he asked, his voice dripping with dramatic disbelief.

Before Jungwon could respond, Sunghoon appeared behind Jake, peering into the camera. "Jake, leave Jungwon alone. Let him spend time with his little Ramen Queen," Sunghoon said with a teasing grin.

Jake rolled his eyes but couldn't hide his amusement. "Alright, alright. I guess we'll have to manage without you tonight. But you better be there next time, lover boy," he said, pointing at me playfully. "And you, Yeonmi, take good care of this lovesick fool."

Jungwon chuckled, his annoyance melting away as he looked at me. "Don't worry, Jake. She's taking excellent care of me."

We said our goodbyes and ended the call, the room falling back into its peaceful silence. I shifted slightly, my head still resting on Jungwon's chest as I looked up at him.

"Sorry about that," Jungwon said, running a hand through his hair. "Jake can be a bit much sometimes."

I smiled, feeling a warmth spread through me at his words. "It's okay. I think it's sweet that they care about you so much."

Jungwon looked down at me, his expression softening. "Yeah, they're a good group. But right now, all I care about is spending time with you."

I felt a blush creep up my cheeks as I snuggled closer to him, the weight of his words sinking in. "I'm glad you're here," I murmured, my voice barely above a whisper.

He tightened his arms around me, pressing a gentle kiss to the top of my head. "Me too, Yeonmi. Me too."

We lay there for a while, the sounds of the city fading into the background as we enjoyed the simple pleasure of each other's company. Eventually, the timer on my phone buzzed, signaling that it was time to remove our face masks.

"Looks like our pampering session is over," I said with a giggle, sitting up to peel off my mask. Jungwon followed suit, his skin glowing from the treatment.
