—— Seori
Walking home after the whole situation with Daejin, I felt a mix of anger, guilt, and confusion swirling inside me. The memory of him leaning in to kiss me was fresh, and my skin crawled with discomfort. How could he think that was okay? And what was I supposed to do now? I couldn't tell Jungwon; it would only make things worse.
By the time I got home, my thoughts were a tangled mess. I trudged upstairs to my room and plopped down on my bed, staring at the ceiling. After a few moments of silence, I pulled out my phone and dialed Yeji's number. She picked up after the first ring.
"Hey, Seori! How did the coffee meeting go?" she asked, her voice cheerful and curious.
"Not great," I sighed, my voice heavy with frustration. "Can we talk? I really need to get this off my chest."
"Of course," Yeji replied, her tone immediately serious. "What's wrong?"
I took a deep breath and launched into the story, recounting every detail of the café meeting with Daejin. As I talked, I felt a mixture of relief and anxiety, glad to have someone to confide in but nervous about how she would react.
When I finished, there was a brief silence on the other end of the line. Then Yeji spoke, her voice filled with concern. "I can't believe he did that! What a creep. Are you okay?"
"Yeah, I'm fine. Just... really shaken up," I admitted, my fingers curling into the fabric of my comforter. "I didn't expect it at all. And now I don't know what to do."
Yeji sighed, her frustration evident. "You need to tell Jungwon, Seori. He deserves to know what happened."
I shook my head, even though she couldn't see me. "I can't, Yeji. It would just make things worse. Jungwon already doesn't like Daejin, and this would only add fuel to the fire. I don't want to cause any more trouble."
"Seori, hiding this from him isn't the answer," Yeji argued gently. "If he finds out some other way, it could be even worse. He needs to hear it from you."
I bit my lip, feeling torn. "I know, but... I'm scared. What if he gets really mad? What if he thinks I encouraged Daejin?"
"Jungwon loves you," Yeji reassured me. "He'll understand. But he needs to hear the truth from you. It's the only way to keep things from getting out of hand."
I sighed, knowing she was right. "Okay, I'll think about it. But for now, I just needed to talk to someone. Thank you, Yeji."
"Anytime," she replied softly. "Just promise me you'll consider telling Jungwon, alright?"
"I promise," I said, my voice barely above a whisper.
After hanging up, I lay back on my bed, feeling slightly better but still anxious. Yeji was right—I needed to tell Jungwon. But the thought of his reaction made my stomach twist with fear.
The rest of the evening passed in a blur. I tried to distract myself with homework, but my mind kept drifting back to the café and Daejin's unwelcome advance. I couldn't shake the feeling of unease that had settled over me.
Eventually, I decided to go for a walk to clear my head. I grabbed my jacket and slipped out of the house, letting the cool evening air wash over me. The streets were quiet, the usual hustle and bustle of the day replaced by a peaceful stillness.
As I walked, I thought about Jungwon and how much he meant to me. I couldn't let this situation with Daejin come between us. But how could I tell him without causing a scene? The answer eluded me, and I felt a growing sense of dread.
