—— Seori

I flopped onto the couch, my heart still fluttering from the recent turn of events. Jungwon and I had finally sorted everything out after so many misunderstandings and awkward encounters. Now, I was eagerly waiting for him to come over. The house felt unusually quiet without my mom around, and I was grateful for the peace. She was working late tonight, which meant that I had the whole evening to myself—and to Jungwon.

I grabbed my phone and checked the time for what felt like the hundredth time. He was supposed to come over in about thirty minutes. In the meantime, I decided to make the house a bit more inviting. I’d been so caught up in our earlier drama that I hadn't really put much thought into making things cozy for him. So, I scurried around, tidying up the living room and preparing a little snack for us. My choice of snack? Obviously, ramen. It was one of Jungwon's favorites, and I had a craving for it too.

I rummaged through the kitchen cabinets, pulling out my ramen packets and a few ingredients to make it extra special. As I was stirring the pot on the stove, my mind wandered to how things had changed. The chaotic mess of Jiyeon’s schemes felt like a distant memory now, though the thought of her still made me shiver a little. What was she up to now? I hoped she had finally given up.

While waiting for the water to boil, I decided to call Yeji. She had been a huge support throughout this whole ordeal, and I wanted to share my excitement with her.

“Hey Yeji!” I greeted as soon as she answered.

“Hey Seori! How’s everything going?” Her voice was cheerful, and I could hear the clinking of dishes in the background. “Are you still in your ramen phase?”

“Of course!” I laughed. “I’m making some now. Jungwon is coming over in a bit. I’m so excited. I feel like everything’s finally back to normal.”

“That’s great to hear!” Yeji said. “You two deserve to have some peace after all that drama. Did you manage to tell your mom about Jungwon yet?”

I sighed, feeling a pang of anxiety. “Not yet. I don’t know how to bring it up. It’s complicated, you know? I mean, telling her that I’m dating someone older than me… It’s not exactly straightforward.”

“I understand,” Yeji said sympathetically. “Just remember that you have to do what feels right for you. But I’m sure she’ll come around eventually.”

“Yeah, I hope so,” I replied, stirring the noodles. “Thanks for always being there, Yeji. It means a lot.”

“No problem!” she said cheerfully. “Anyway, I’m glad things are better now. I was a bit worried, you know? But seeing you happy again makes me happy too.”

After hanging up with Yeji, I turned my attention back to the ramen. I set the table with a couple of bowls and chopsticks, and made sure everything was ready for when Jungwon arrived. I even found a few candles and lit them to make the ambiance a little more romantic. It was a small touch, but it felt important to me.

As I was finishing up, I heard the familiar sound of the front door opening. My heart skipped a beat as I rushed to the door to greet Jungwon.

“Hey!” I said, opening the door. “I was just about to call you.”

Jungwon smiled at me, his eyes lighting up as he saw the setup. “Wow, you really went all out.”

I blushed a little, feeling a bit shy. “Well, I wanted to make it special. I’ve missed you, and I thought it’d be nice to have a cozy night in.”
