Today was one of the few days where it wasn't too cold in London. It was sunny but windy and it felt just right. For that reason, I went on a little walk with Benny. As I was walking around North London I also decided to stop at a cafe to get a coffee. Today was already starting great and later on I was going to go see Drew at her work because she wanted me to see what she does and what her work life is like. I didn't want to go that much but it seemed like she did want me to go.
As I kept walking with Benny stopping every few minutes to smell a bush to pee, I felt my phone buzz. I checked it and saw that Vic texted me.
Vic
Help me!
Pls
Hurry!
At my place!!I'm coming!
As I saw her text my eyes widened and I quickly responded to her. I had no idea what happened but it didn't matter. If Vic needed my help I'll always be there.
I ran as fast as I could with Benny and luckily we weren't too far away from Vic's apartment. I'm no athlete so I was pretty winded when I finally reached Vic's door. I knocked on the door hoping Vic wasn't dead or something worse.
"Come in! Hurry!" Vic answered. I opened the door running around here apart to find where she was.
"Over here!" She yelled. I then found her standing on a chair with a frightened face as a spider was crawling closer to her.
"Are you serious?" I said not mad at her but in disbelief that's the reason she texted me like she was dying.
"What?! I'm terrified of spiders! Just please help!"I smacked my hand on my four head then proceeded to walk towards the spider. I then stepped on it and Vic could see that the spider was dead. Vic then sighed knowing that she was no longer going to "die" because of a spider.
"Thank you," Vic said coming down from her chair.
"You are very welcome," I replied getting a broom to clean up the spider.
"Did you run from your place to mine? You look like you ran a marathon," Vic said seeing my sweaty body and my heavy breathing.
"No, I was on a walk with Benny and I was near your apartment so I ran here as fast as I could," I said wiping the sweat off my four head.
"Oh... well thank you for coming and sorry I made you run here."
"It's fine. I mean you could've died because of that huge terrifying spider," I said sarcastically and started to laugh.
"Neuk je," Vic said. Her face looked annoyed and happy at the same time.
"Hey! You can't do that!"
"Do what?" Vic said knowing what she was doing.
"You can't speak Dutch because now I have no idea what you're saying."
"That's the whole point," Vic said laughing. She then leaned down to pick up Benny and started to pet him.
"You're not going to make me start learning Dutch are you?"
"I would never make you do something you wouldn't want to do."
"What if I want to learn it?" I said.
"Then go for it," Vic said not being bothered. I rolled my eyes playfully and uncoupled the leash from Benny's collar. I then saw Vic staring at my body for a few seconds as if there was something on me. Then I remembered I was soaked in sweat from running to her apartment.
" you don't run much do you?" Vic said still looking at my body.
"No, I don't. Can I have some water?"
My mouth was the driest it has ever been and I felt like I was going to die of dehydration.
"Yeah hold on."
Vic gave me a cup of water and then asked, "So... when are you going to ask Drew to be your girlfriend?"
I thought about her question while drinking the whole cup of water.
"Um, I'm not sure. Things are going great with her but I'm not sure when to ask. I want the time to be right."
Vic sat down in front of me on the other side of the table intertwining her fingers together as if she was in a meeting ready to get to business.
"What?" I asked her.
I could tell she was going to say something serious by her facial expression and the way she changed her body movement as well. I might not have known Vic for a very long time but I got to the point where I knew how she was going to act just by looking at her.
"Do you see yourself ending up with her? Like in the future?" Vic said.
I thought about her question and I didn't want to answer it. Not right now at least.
"I haven't thought that far yet," I said.
"Oh... sorry I don't even know why I asked that," Vic said leaning back on the chair.
"It's okay. You're allowed to ask questions."
"Yeah, but it was personal. I don't know need to know about your personal life," Vic said looking down at her hands.
"Well you're my friend so I think you are allowed even if it's about my relationship with Drew."
"Okay, I just don't want it to seem like I want to know everything. I know it's important to give you your space too," Vic said. She got out of her seat and went into her room. A few seconds later she came back to where I was sitting and handed me a shirt. I noticed it wasn't just any shirt but it was one of her arsenal training shirts. It looked like it was one from last season. I held it in my hand not knowing why she gave it to me.
"Why did you give me this?"
"You're sweaty and I didn't want you to be uncomfortable while you're here," Vic said.
"Oh, I wasn't planning on staying very long."
"Well, I was going to make your lunch. If you want," Vic said as she walked towards the kitchen.
I shrugged my shoulders and then said, "Sure. I'll stay."
Then I took off my sweaty shirt and replaced it with the one she gave me. I noticed Vic looking but I didn't think much of it. I mean we are both women so it doesn't matter.
"I know. I know. I'm not in great shape like you are," I said to Vic because she was still looking at me.
"No don't say that. You still look fine for someone who doesn't work out."
I laughed at her comment and said, "Thanks."
Vic made me lunch and we then talked for a while. I have never been a person to talk a lot but when it comes to talking to Vic it's always easy. She told me about the game against West Ham where they lost 3-1. She was disappointed in herself because she said she didn't play as well as she could've. I didn't think she should blame herself for losing a game but sometimes she can be hard on herself.By the time we finished talking about everything going on in our lives, I realized it was time for me to go meet Drew at her work. I said goodbye to Vic and then went to Drew's work.
The building looked fancy and white. I kind of expected a modeling workplace would look like that. There were so many mirrors with a lot of models everywhere. I felt out of place.
After talking to some people I finally found where Drew was. I walked into a room with a few people behind cameras and laptops and models in front of a wallpaper where they had to pose. I saw Drew wearing a fancy button-up shirt, loose jeans, and some Jordans. She always dresses well when she works.
"Hey," I said making Drew turn around. I gave her a little wave and her smile instantly grew. I then hugged her and as I let go she said, "I didn't know you were already here."
"Yeah I just asked a few people where you were and they said I could just walk in."
"Awesome. So I don't have a lot left to do so in the meantime you can watch me take some pictures of the models and then we can go," Drew said.
"Ok. Sounds good," I said but then noticed Drew was staring at me weirdly. It was as if there was something on my shirt which made me look down at my shirt as well.
"Where did you get that?" Drew said nodding her head towards my shirt which was the Arsenal training shirt Vic gave me.
"Oh. It's Vic's. She let me borrow it. It's just her training shirt," I said to Drew as she didn't look too amused by what I said.
"Oh right, 'cause it doesn't look like a jersey and her number is on it so I figured it wasn't something you bought."
"I hope this isn't a big deal. I just needed to change my sweaty shirt before I got here," I told her.
"No. Why would it be a big deal? I'm sure whatever the story behind you getting sweaty and needing another is hilarious."
Drew turned around to her camera laughing and then turned back around to me.
"But seriously next time maybe just ask me for a shirt. Okay?" she said as if I was a lost cause and then turned back around to take pictures of the models who heard our conversation because I saw them staring and mumbling words to each other.I was a bit annoyed Drew said that because she didn't even know the story of why I had to change my shirt. I get that she felt something because I was wearing one of Vic's shirts but I don't understand why she had to say it that way, especially in front of people. Something new I noticed about Drew is that she doesn't care or think about what she says. I wish she could get better at that because sometimes I can't stand when she does that. I guess there are going to be some things you don't like about the person you want to be with.
