2 months later

"But what if they don't like me?"
"Of course, they're going to like you! What kind of question is that?" Vic said as we both were packing our clothes.
Since Vic had done the first step of her therapy and she isn't plating due to her injury, we can have a "vacation." I wouldn't call it that but it's more like meeting my girlfriend's parents for the first time which is what I'm going to do.
"I mean you say that but what if deep down they think I'm weird and awkward because sometimes I can be. Wait, do they even speak English? Oh my god, I'm fucked! How will I even communicate with them??" I ranted even though Vic has been helping me learn Dutch even more in the past month.
"Hey hey," Vic said putting her clothes down and putting her hands on my shoulders. "It's going to be fine and I doubt my parents will not like you. You know as long as you can't make me pregnant, they don't care."
I looked at her with a really? Face.
"I don't like when you joke with me when I'm being serious."
"Babe," she said touching my cheek. "You don't have to worry. They will like you and even if they don't, which is unlikely, I could care less about what they think about you. Plus you've been doing great with Dutch."
She always knew what to say.
I took a deep breath and nodded my head saying, "I guess I am overthinking it. I'll just be myself."
Vic then gave me a quick kiss and continued to pack her clothes.

As we were on the plane I was now less worried about meeting Vic's family but I still wanted to know a little about them before I met them. She has talked about her family here and there but now I want to make sure I know at least a little about them so I don't look stupid. Grabbing my notepad I made a list of her family's names.
"Okay so mom and dad are Daan and Gerda, You're two sisters are Anna and Johanna, and your brother is Pieter?"
"Correct," Vic said nodding her head.
"And Johanna is the older sister right?"
Vic giggled saying, "Yes."
"Alright and how old Pieter again?"
"Does it matter how old he is?" She said still giggling.
"Maybe," I said shrugging.
"Well, why do you want to know so much right before we're about to meet them? I mean can't you ask them these questions? You know so you can get to know them and make conversation," she said.
"These questions are the basic ones though. I feel like I should've alright known these things."
She sighed.
"Yeah, you're right. I should've told you more. I'm sorry."
I could tell she felt bad so I didn't make it into a big argument.
"It's okay," I said kissing her on the cheek.
The whole plane ride I couldn't stop thinking about why Vic had been distant with me. Not physically but when talking about her life when she was younger or telling stories. She wouldn't bring any of that up ever since I first met her. Maybe I could be overthinking this since we've only been dating for almost three months. Maybe she wasn't ready to talk about her life back in the Netherlands until now.

I eventually slept for not so long since the plane ride to the Netherlands wasn't far. Vic said her brother was the one that was going to pick us up. The rest of her family was waiting at their house to welcome Vic.
We were walking down a long hall to the main entrance where Pieter said he was going to be standing. We walked now where there were too many people at the entrance of the airport so we had to look around more closely to find him. A few minutes later Vic touched my shoulder saying, "Look!" Pointing at her brother who was only 3 years younger.
She immediately ran to him as he was waving big with both his arms.
"Pieter!" Vic yelled.
"Victoria!" He yelled back as they hugged.
I slowly came walking towards them giving them time to take in the moment. They broke their hug looking towards me as I caught up with them.
"Hi, I'm Pieter. Nice to meet you," he said with a thick Dutch accent coming in for a hug. I broke it saying, "Hi, I'm Taylor. It's nice to meet you too. You're Vic's brother right?"
"Yes. We look alike don't we?"
Vic laughed saying, "I'm the better looking one though."
"Yeah, that's true. Sorry Pieter," I said with a light giggle.
"Ah, it's okay. I know I'm the better-looking one," he said confidently."
"Okay well let's get going. I want to see the rest of my family," Vic said excitedly.
