this chapter uses and mentions symptoms of anxiety
"Sorry, it's Drew. Let me take this real quick," I said putting the phone to my ear.
"It's fine."
"Hello?" I said to Drew.
"Hey, where are you? I'm here at your place waiting for you."
I suddenly remembered I had a date today with Drew.
"Fuck! I completely forgot! I'm so sorry Drew," I said as I hit my forehead.
"It's okay," she laughed. "I'll just wait."
"I would ask you to wait for me but I'm actually with Vic right now."
"Oh... so no date night today?"
"Yeah I'm sorry again," I said knowing Drew was disappointed.
"It's fine. Enjoy your time with her."
"Thank you. Again I'm so-."
Before I could end my sentence I heard the phone hang up.
I sighed because I knew Drew was upset but I honestly completely forgot. I put my phone down seeing Vic look at me confused.
"Is everything okay?"
"Yeah, I just forgot I had a date today with Drew and she's not happy about it."
"And she knows I'm with you right now?"
I nodded my head.
"It's fine. I'll make it up to her."
I remembered Vic was saying something so I asked, "Anyways what was what you were going to say?"
"Nothing... it's nothing," Vic said looking down.
"Are you sure?"
"Yeah I'm sure," she said as she hugged her knees with both arms. The sunset made her face entire face light up with warmth. And her eyes getting brighter by the sun. It was a perfect moment.
I grabbed my digital camera and took a quick picture of her. She then turned her head noticing what I did. Her face was full of kindness and empathy.
"Can I see it?"
I nodded my head and gave her my camera. She smiled at the picture and then gave it back to me. Her face abruptly turned upset. I don't know if I said anything wrong.
"What is it?"
"Go with Drew."
"What do you mean?"
"She's probably upset right now and you can't just ignore that. Right now you should be with her, not me."
Vic stood up and started putting the food I bought away. I continued looking at her but I didn't disagree with her. I folded the blanket I had set on the grass and Vic gave me the basket of food.
"You know if you're going to continue dating Drew you should put your best effort in your relationship. If I was dating someone I wouldn't want them to ignore me or care about my feelings," Vic said honestly.
I felt embarrassed because was right. I wasn't a good girlfriend right now.
"Yeah... you're right. I'll see you later Vic," I said hugging her.
Knock knock knock
I tried knocking on Drew's apartment door but she wasn't answering. After a few minutes of her not opening the door, I wasn't sure if she was there. I was going to leave but then heard something coming from inside her apartment. I turned the doorknob and the door opened letting me go inside her place. I walked around the living area not seeing her.
"Drew?" I said walking towards her kitchen. "Are you here?"
I continued walking around her apartment and as I got closer to her room I heard the noises louder. I was outside her door and I could hear moaning from her room. I didn't want to believe it but what else could it be? She was cheating on me and I was frozen there, feeling nothing.
After a few seconds not knowing how to feel it got to me and I wasn't going to let someone walk over me. Someone that I trusted and gave my heart to crush me. I felt angry and heartbroken and I didn't care who was in there with her. I slammed the door open seeing Drew on top of a blond white chick who was in total shock of me opening the door.
"Are you fucking kidding me?!" I yelled angrily.
"Shit! Tay-."
"Don't even talk! You have no right to open your mouth! Are you serious right now?! After I trust you and decide to have a relationship with you you do this to me? We haven't even dated for a month and you cheat on me?! How fucked up is that!" I screamed out.
"I'm sorry I didn't mean to! I- I just felt upset after you forgot about our date and I don't know why I did this! I'm sorry Taylor!" Drew explained to me.
"Why do you think I'm here? I was coming to you because I felt bad and now I'm here seeing you fuck some other girl. Your "sorry" isn't enough."
"Taylor please just give me another chance. I messed up I know I did but I won't do it again. Please Taylor," Drew begged getting off the bed and closer to me.
I stared into her eyes not satisfied by what she said and I knew I no longer wanted anything to do with her.
"Get your naked body away from me because I would never give a cheater a second chance," I said in a stern voice.
"Taylor-."
"We're done. It's over."
Drew didn't know what to say but nodded her head letting me know she knew she couldn't change my mind.
"I guess I should delete your number then and you can leave now and never hear from me again," she said turning around to the other girl still in her bed.
"Sounds good to me," I said leaving.
I knew I was angry when I confronted Drew but right now as I was on my way to my place I just felt wretched. I didn't want my emotions to take over especially because this was my first heartbreak ever. I was walking to my apartment and my eyes were filled with tears. Why did I ever think me and Drew were going to work out? I guess you truly don't know people until you are forced to see who they are.
I was too upset and I didn't know what to do. I was overwhelmed by this and I had no idea how to cope with it. My breathing got shorter and shorter and at some point I felt like I couldn't breathe. I opened my apartment door and rushed in falling to the floor. I did the only thing I could think of at that moment and called Vic.
"Hello?" She answered.
My breathing was still short and fast and I began to cry harder when I heard her voice thanking God she answered.
"Taylor what's wrong?!" She said hearing my crying and breathing.
I couldn't and wasn't able to say anything but I knew she understood.
"It's okay. It's okay. I don't know what happened but I'm right here. I won't hang up and you don't either. I'm here, I'm here. Just breathe with me okay," Drew said as she started to inhale and exhale I started to do the same.
"That's good. Breathe in and breathe out."
After my breathing was back to normal I still cried and cried and cried. Even if I felt like someone abandoned me and hurt me I also had someone who was there for me and would never leave me.
That entire night I was on the phone with Vic and no one spoke but as long as I knew she was there I was okay.
