The next day
When me and Vic were practicing on how I should ask Drew to be my girlfriend it made me realize how much I didn't really know about Drew. We have been spending time with each other but I guess we haven't been actually getting to know each other. I really thought it was time to ask her out officially but I think it's better if I actually try to get to know more about Drew. I decided that today I'm going to invite her to my place so we can have dinner, talk, and hopefully get to know more about each other. I'm not a great cook but I'll do my best to make something nice. I bet Vic knows what I can cook so I called her.
"Hello?" Vic answered.
"Hey! I wanted ask you what would be a simple but nice meal to cook. For like a dinner at home."
"For what?" Vic said confused. "You don't cook," she then said laughing.
"Haha very funny. But seriously can you tell me?"
"Fine. What for though?" She asked.
"I wanted to make dinner for me and Drew because as you know I need to get to know her more and I thought that her coming over would give us the chance to talk a little deeper."
"Oh wow. Okay. You're serious about getting to know her," she said.
"Well yeah I wouldn't want to date anyone I didn't know."
"Okay well the thing that comes to my mind that is simple but a good meal is pasta. I mean pretty simple but really good with salad on the side and maybe some bread."
"Vic my plan isn't Olive Garden," I said.
"No but it might be good if you make it right," she said laughing.
"Ok fine I'll make it but send me the ingredients."
"I will."
"Bye!" I said.I went to the store to buy everything I needed and then went back to my apartment to make the food. I called Drew to see if you would like to come over and she said yes. Everything was pretty much done and all I had to do was clean up a little bit. A few minutes late Drew should be arriving.
I heard a knock on my door which could only be Drew so I went and opened the door and it was her. She had a gentle smile on her face and was dressed cozy classy. I'm guessing she just came from work.
"Hey!" She said.
Hi!" I said back then she leaned in and gave me a quick kiss.
"Uh come in," I said opening the door for her. Right when she entered Benny started walk towards her. She bent down to pet him.
"Hey little guy! You're so cute!" Drew said.
"So how was work?"
"It was good. Nothing too extraordinary today but casual," she said. I had no idea what that meant but I just went along with it.
"Oh ok. That's cool."
"Yeah so why did you want me to come over?" She asked getting up from petting Benny.
"Well I made you dinner and I thought we could get to know each other more. I thought it would be a good idea."
"That's a great idea! Thank you for dinner I'm starving!"As we were eating she said she loved the food I made and then we started to talk about our lives when we were younger. I got to know about her family and her other hobbies I didn't know about. She plays tennis which is pretty cool. She also told me some stories that were pretty funny of what has happened to her. I shared some back and she got to know more about me as well.
We then finished eating and went to sit down in the living room. As we were sitting down she was looking at some pictures framed on a table. Some were of my family and my dog and I even put Vic there.
"Hey I know her," Drew said pointing to Vic.
"You do?"
"Well I don't know her but I know who she is."
"Oh yeah I mean Vic is kind of known for football," I said.
"Yeah and you also talk about her. It's cool you have a friend who's a footballer," Drew said while sitting down next to me.
"Yeah especially if she plays for Arsenal."
"Oh shut up!" She said pushing my shoulder.
"I'm kidding!"
"I didn't know you two were that close though by looking at the picture and that she's framed in your living room," she said laughing.
"Well she was the first person I pretty much met in London and became my friend," I said smiling at the picture I took of her that one night we had a movie night at Beth's and Vivs house.
"Right and hopefully I'll be framed up there too someday?" Drew said looking at me. I then turned my head to turn and saw a confused look on her face.
"What?" I asked.
"Why haven't you ever took a picture of me? I mean I don't look that bad do I?" She said as a joke.
"No but I'm not sure."
"Well come on. Why not you take one now?" She asked.
"Right now?"
"Yes! Get a camera!" She said excitedly.
"Ok hold on," I said grabbing a camera from one of my drawers.
I faced it towards Drew where she was sitting on the couch. She had her hand holding her face that looked like she was admiring the camera or me. I took a picture and took another but I got closer this time. Right when I was about to take the third she put my camera down and tugged my shirt to bring me closer to her. Right when she was about to kiss me I pulled back.
"What? What is it?" She asked letting go of my shirt.
"I'm sorry. I just don't want to go as far as I think it's going to go. I mean we're at my place alone and I don't think it's the right time for that," I said being honest with her.
"No yeah. I understand."
"Really you're not upset?"
"No why would u be? I respect you and your decisions and if you're not ready for anything serious right now, I get that. I don't mind waiting." Drew said making me feel better about what just happened.
"Thank you... for being understanding. Not everyone wants to be the one waiting for someone and I know I haven't made it easy for you but I've never been in a real relationship with someone so I'm not sure where to really start," I said looking down not wanting to be embarrassed.
"Well we could first start off by telling each other how we really when something is wrong and just getting to know one another," she said.
"Yeah that sounds like a good start."I'm glad me and Drew were on the same page and that I told her the way I felt. It's not easy to be vulnerable to a person you haven't spent a lot of time with but knowing the person is someone you can trust is worth it.
"But seriously why haven't you took a picture of me before?"
"Honestly I'm not sure. Maybe Id rather be in the moment with you," I said before turning the tv on.
"That makes sense. You'd rather be in the moment with me than your other friends like Victoria," Drew said laughing.
It did make sense because there were a good amount of times I took pictures but I don't think of her that way.
"Yeah I mean I don't think of her romantically. She's just my friend and I just have captured a few pictures of her," I said.
"Well you feel that way but what if she actually likes you?"
"What do you mean?" I said knowing what she meant but not really.
"Don't you ever think why a professional footballer started to become close friends to some photographer they randomly met somewhere and continue being best friends? It doesn't make sense to me," Drew said shrugging her shoulders.
"Come on Drew! You don't really think that and besides Vic is just a kind person who wanted to show me around London and ever since then we just continued," I answered not thinking much of it.
"Yeah I don't know I could be wrong but what if right?"
"You won't be right because it's not true and if you were supposedly right... I only have feeling for you," I said leaning forward to Drew to give her a quick kiss.Authors note
