Chapter 13

After long talks of getting to know each other we decided to leave the restaurant. Drew wanted to go walk around and talk more while drinking coffee but I told her that I haven't fed Benny yet so I should probably get back home. She understood and drove me back to my apartment.
We were at my apartment and as Drew parked she she looked at me like she was going to say something and then she did.
"I had a really good time," she said as her body faced toward me.
"Yeah me too. I enjoyed getting to know you more," I said.
"Hopefully we can have more of these soon."
"Dates?" I asked.
"Yeah, dates."
"Well let's see what happens," I said not sure of what else to say.
There was silence as we were staring at each other. I wasn't sure what we were doing or if I should say anything. Drew then started to lean in and before I knew it, she kissed me but the second she did I backed away.
"Is something wrong?" Drew asked with a confused expression.
"I'm sorry. I just- I don't think it's the right time. To be kissing."
"Oh. I should be sorry I kissed you."
"It's ok I just want to get know you more before we become anything," I said honestly.
"I understand. But does that mean you would like to actually date me at some point?" Drew said as her lips made a smile.
"Maybe but like I said, I want to get to know you first."
"Ok, I promise it won't happen again."
"Cool," I said.
"I'll text you," Drew said as I was opening her car.
"Okay. Bye," I said waving my hand and closing her door.
"Bye," she said.
If we were going to be together in the future I would want to do it the right way. I've barely known Drew for a few days so I wouldn't want to rush anything. I'm not the kind of person who wants to already rush into a relationship because I think it's best if you first get to know someone and then if you think they are still the person you want to be with then that's great. Maybe that's why I haven't been with someone in so long.

I went in to my apartment and fed Benny. Today Vic was playing against Bristol city and since I came home early I decided I was going to watch her on the tv. I texted Vic that I would be watching her and she said if she scores she'll do a "special celebration." I don't know what she meant by that but I told her good luck.

I made a coffee to watch the game and Benny sat down beside me to watch her too. I saw Vic in line with her teammates and I have to say, she looked cute on tv. Benny started to bark when Vic appeared on tv. I guess he recognized her. Vic is going to be so happy when I tell her Benny recognized her on tv.

The game started and I was ready to see Arsenal win. I didn't want to jinx it but if I'm being honest, Bristol city isn't a super good team and to Arsenal I think it will be an easy win. In the 6th minute Arsenal already scored. Frida shot a screamer from the left side of the pitch into the top right corner. Then in the 20th minute Katie scored another screamer but this time it went into the top left corner. 34th Arsenal scored their third goal from Frida again! It was now halftime and I have to say, Vic has been really good this game. She's great every game but today she was on fire. After halftime the second half started and already in the 50th minute Stina from an Arsenal corner. It was the 72nd minute and I saw Lotte running on the right side of the pitch all the way to the box. Vic was on the very edge of the box as Lotte made a great pass to her. Vic now had the ball and made an extra touch. She hit the ball on the right side of the net and scored! I couldn't believe it. Vic actually scored today! I started jumping in my living room and Benny thought I was going crazy. Then when I saw the tv Vic faced the camera and held up a "T" with her fingers. I knew right away that the T celebration was for me. Vic's goal today was dedicated to me and I was so happy about it. I couldn't stop smiling after I saw her celebration. I'm guessing that what she meant by a "special celebration."

The game was over and Arsenal won 5-0 against Bristol city. I knew they would win. I was so proud of Vic today and she even got a goal which doesn't happen all the time. I knew she would call me about her goal and celebration so I just waited until she called me. Then about 30 minutes later I saw Vic FaceTiming me. I don't know why she preferred FaceTime over just regular calling but I didn't care much.
"Congrats Vic!" I said with a huge smile on my face.
"Thanks!" She said back as she sat on the bus.
"Someone else wanted to say congrats on the win and goal," I said pointing my camera to Benny.
Vic gasped and said, "Hi Benny! Thank you for watching me! I love you!"
"Oh my gosh I also was going to tell you that earlier when you were lined up before the game started, he saw your face zoomed in on the tv and started to bark."
"Wait really?!"
"Yes! He knew it was you!" I said.
"Oh my God! That's crazy!" She said in awe.
"Yeah but hey congrats on the goal as well," I said lowering my voice.
"Thanks. I did it for you."
"I know. I saw the celebration," I said putting my phone down and making a T shape with my fingers.
"Was it that obvious it was for you?" Vic said laughing.
"Well to me it was but I don't know for other people or fans."
"Yeah, they wouldn't know because I never post you online or anything," Vic said setting her phone down to where I can see her.
"And you don't need to. I don't care if you want people to know if I'm your friend or not."
"Thanks. Sometimes I like it when I can keep things private. I don't like when fans want to know every single thing about my life," Vic said.
"I get that. And you are a football player so hey shouldn't care about your personal life and just your professional life. Football."
"Yeah that would be nice. Do you promise you're not just my friend because I'm a footballer?" she said.
"You know I couldn't care less about who you are. I never wanted to be your friend because of your job but because I really like you."
"Good and I really like you too," she said back.
