Chapter 12

I didn't want to text Drew first because honestly I didn't know what I should say. I was nervous on what she meant by the last picture. And what would I say if she actually does want to date me? Am I ready to start dating or should I wait? I mean I haven't dated in so long so would I even be good at it? Who would even want to date me?

While I was thinking of all the reasons why I shouldn't be dating anyone I got a text message from Drew. I was a little scared to see what it said but I opened the message anyway.

Drew

What do you think?

I like them!
They look good 👍🏼

Thanks
They're for you
The person I picked was you

Yeah
I can tell lol

What do you think about
the last picture?

It looks good😁

I meant about what it says
😂

Oh right
I'm not sure
What are you trying to tell
me?

Like it says
"I like you a lot. Will you give
me a chance?"

Are you asking me out?

Yeah I am...
Will you go out with me?

Right when I was about to answer, Vic was FaceTiming me. I didn't know what to say yet to Drew so I decided to answer Vic. Maybe she could help me.
"Hey!" I said looking at Vic's face.
"Hi!" Vic said with the biggest smile.
"What are you doing?" I asked her.
"I just finished training."
"Oh ok."
"Thanks for the pictures. I really do love them," she said.
"Yeah no problem. I'm glad you like them."
It was silent for a few seconds and Vic could tell there was something wrong.
"Are you okay?" She said worried.
"Yeah. Well kind of."
"What's going on?"
"Drew asked me to go out with her and I'm not sure what I should do..."
I just saw Vic's face turn away from the camera for a second and then turned back.
"Do you like her?"
"I don't know. I mean she is nice and pretty and has a good personality. I just don't know what I should do," I said in frustration.
"Well I think you should do what your heart tells you. If you're ready to be in a relationship, go for it but if you're not then tell her you need time."
What I loved the most about Vic is her honesty and how much she cares for the people she loves.
"Ok. I think I should just go for it. I haven't been a relationship in a long time and maybe right now is my chance," I said.
"If that's what you want," Vic said genuinely.

I said goodbye to Vic and thanked her for her help. I went back to Drew's message and I knew she was waiting for me to respond.

Drew

I would love to go out with
you😊

Really?!

lol yes!

Ok I'm so glad!
I have this place in mind
where we could have our
date😁
Are you free tomorrow?

Yeah I am

Ok
I'll pick you up tomorrow!
Bye!

Sounds good!
Bye:)

I felt good and nervous that I would be going on a date for the first time in a long time. Hopefully I won't mess it up and I'll do my best to make conversation. Being an introvert can suck sometimes. Like what if I run out of things to say?? Well it's not like we haven't talked before but this time it will be different. Dates are more of a romantic kind of conversation. Dylan would know what to say.

"Hey! How are you?!" Dylan said over the phone.
"I'm good. How about you?"
"I'm alright. I've been busy with work but nothing much going on over here."
"Oh ok. Well I wanted to call you because I need help," I said.
"With what?"
"I'm kind of going on a date with Drew and I'm scared I'm going to mess it up. Like what if I say the wrong things and I start being weird and then she won't like me anymore. I just haven't dated in so long I'm not sure how I'll do!" I said clearly showing how stressed I was.
"Wait...what?! You're going on a date with Drew?!" He said screaming.
"Yes I just told you that."
"Ok ok let me just process this," he said not saying anything for a few seconds.
"Look. I know you haven't dated in a long time so all I'm gonna say is, just be yourself. If someone doesn't like you for you then they're obviously stupid. Get to know her and let her get to know you."
"Okay you're right. Thank you," I said in a more calm voice.
"You're welcome and I'm happy for you," Dylan said.
"Ok I'll let you know how it goes. Bye!"
"Bye! I love you!"
"I love you too!" I said hanging up.

The next day

I was ready for my date with Drew. I decided to wear something cozy but also looked like I tried to dress a little for the date. I knew Drew would be wearing something nice because every time I have seen her she wears something that always looks fancy.

I waited for Drew at my apartment because she told me she would pick me up. Then after a few minutes she arrived so I went outside and saw her car. She didn't get out so I just opened the door and got it.
"Hey."
"Hi," I said back.
"You look nice," Drew said looking at my outfit.
"Thanks. You do too. I mean you always look nice."
"Thank you. I try," she said joking around.
We talked about where we were going because she said it was a place that would remind me of America. All America reminded me about was burgers, fries, and hotdogs bus supposedly those things aren't even American.

We arrived at the restaurant and got our seats. I couldn't help but laugh because it was exactly what I expected.
"What's funny?" Drew asked me smiling but confused.
"Nothing it's just, you know that burgers and fries aren't just from America. I mean they have it everywhere and it never originated from America either."
"Well obviously I knew that but I thought it might remind you of home. I mean look at how country this place looks," Drew said looking around the restaurant.
"I guess you're right but I am from New York so I've never really been in the country part of America."
"Oh, damn. Sorry I forgot," she said scratching her neck.
"It's fine. I only told you once anyway. I probably wouldn't have remembered either," I said lying. If I was in love with someone and they told me where they live or used to live, I would've never forget.
"Well I should've still remembered but anyways, how was life in New York?"

While we were in the restaurant eating we were also telling each other about ourselves. I definitely got to know things about her I never thought about. She seemed different but in a good way. I also told her things that she probably didn't expect like me not dating for several years. I liked getting to know her and I could possibly see myself dating her in the future. There was just one thing that was keeping me from doing that. I'm not sure what it is but it's like I don't want to date Drew because of something or someone. I'm not sure if she is or if she's not the one...
