Juno's pov:
Eliot hadn't smiling like he used to, and it concerned Juno a great deal. They were in this together - they were together. He was supposed to be helping and understanding. He was supposed to be there for Eliot, when living did not seem like the first choice. He was supposed to hold him, and tell him that it was all going to be okay. To do what no one had ever done to him; to help.
Yet every time he tried to reach out, every time Eliot had been staring into space with a frown upon his face, Eliot would put on a smile which only seems like a smile, yet did not fool anyone. He would say it was fine and change the subject. Juno knew that smile, from a time when he was the one carrying it. Juno tried to ask time and time again, but the end result stayed the same. His Eliot seemed to have grown distant.
'Was it his fault...?'
No, he shouldn't think like that. He could not allow those thoughts back into his stream of thought. Juno knew that being in a relationship wasn't about finding your missing piece, but rather finding someone who compliments yourself. Everyone has their own separate lives. Happiness and 'happy ever after' isn't just being in a relationship, like portrayed in so many movies growing up. Happiness is about finding yourself and embracing who you are.
He just needed to convince himself of that.
Eliot's pov:
It was Saturday. The day of doing nothing. But most importantly; not doing anything you're supposed to.
Eliot sat in his mother's rocking chair. From the living room, he could see the big ash tree in the backyard. The ash stood in the centre of the little garden. When he was younger, Eliot used to climb up into the tree, to escape reality. No one could reach him up there, so there he would stay. He missed being as independent and free, as when he was younger. He hadn't been up in that tree for a couple of years now. Times had long since changed. The weekend came and went. After that, another week.
He had avoided Juno other than in school. Yet even there, he had been distend. Juno has sent him a message. It read as so: "Hey Ellie. Kinda noticed you've been a little out of it lately. Are you okay? You can talk to me yk. Just ask. I'll be there:)". Juno always finishes his sentences with a smiling face. When had he himself last smiled?
...
Okay, maybe he wasn't totally okay. He let out a little laugh. It felt weird being honest with himself.
The clouds were gray in the distance. It was monday. The day of rain. The day where you had to force yourself out of bed and to school.
It was windy outside. Raindrops fell against the window. As annoying and irritating as the sound was, it also brought a deep comfort to Eliot. The plant in the window looked happy, despite the weather, and he could hear his mother going about in the kitchen. It hadn't rained in quite a while now. But when the clouds can no longer bear the weight of the water, they have to let go of it. They grow gloomy and have a cry. It's important to let go of the weight they carry. Their tears are what water the earth. It had been a couple of weeks now. Eliot needed to let go. He couldn't keep on being a grey cloud.
"ELLIE!" It was Hazel's voice. They tucked a person with them, towards Eliot in the hallway. He was about a head taller than Hazel.
"Hey." Eliot's voice cracking a bit. He walked over to them.
"How've your day been?" Hazel asked him curiously as always.
Eliot shrug and replied "Fine. Physics is a pain though. And you?"
"I'm good. Oh, and this is my cousin, Edwin. You know, the one I told you about a couple of weeks ago."
"Oh, yes." Eliot turned to the cousin. "Hi. Nice to meet you, Edwin. I'm Eliot." Edwin smiled and Eliot smiled back. He was in awe at how it looked like Edwin emitted light. Hazle was right. And he seemed like a nice person. He was sure to fit in nicely with them.
(So someone informed me (it was myself looking) that we reached 10k!
I've added some information about Edwin on the information page.
Sorry for not having updated in a while. But here is a chapter... because i am procrastinating on studying for my yearly exams.
Have a good day, to all of you<3)
