Chapter 15: Which One?

Prince Khyl and Joseph felt very angry and sad when they found out that their brother would be expelled from the family when they were children. They defended him so that he would not be expelled from the family. They will only forgive their father if their brother, Jerome, also forgives him.

"Father, you don't need to apologize; I forgave you a long time ago." Prince Jerome started to drop tears and continued, "I would like to apologize for being a burden and weak on the sword field. I also want to learn, but the case is, I can't really get it. Don't worry, I will find a way to learn and defend myself. I would also like to help our kingdom if you allowed me to build a laboratory."

The king felt as if the weight he was carrying in his heart had disappeared when he could tell everything to his children. He was even more relieved when he found out that his son, Jerome, had forgiven him a long time ago. He looked at his two other sons, Khyl and Joseph.

King Albert said insincerely, "Khyl and Joseph, I would also like to..."

Prince Joseph cut off his father's statement and said, "If my brother has forgiven you, so am I."

Prince Khyl spoke and said, "I forgive you, Father, if my two brothers forgive you too."

With what his children said, the king felt his heart lighten again.

He hugged his three children and said, "I love you, my sons. I hope you give me a chance to make up for my mistakes as a father," while still hugging and crying about his deeds.

Minutes later, they broke their hug and fixed themselves up.

"Just as I said, Elder Brother is a crybaby; be thankful that Scarlett is not around, or you'll be bullied," Prince Joseph said while teasing.

Prince Jerome was about to argue when he realized and said, "Right, sister. Wait, sister...sister is missing!"

"Oh no. I was overcome with emotion. I totally forgot about your sister," King Albert said.

"How can we find her if we have a monster subjugation plan?" Prince Joseph said.

"How about we forfeit for a while and continue searching for her?" Suggestions from Prince Jerome

King Albert replied, "No, that won't be happening; the villages will suffer even more if we forfeit today."

"If we don't find her right now, we don't know what might happen to her outside," Prince Jerome argued.

King Albert replied, "She will not be in danger; she is a smart person, and I know she knows what she's doing," he said confidently.

"What do you mean she knows what she's doing? You didn't even know her at all. She is a carefree person; she is innocent enough to be fooled around," Prince Jerome said angrily.

King Albert said, "If we find her today, how about the villages?"

Prince Jerome replied, "We can just make them evacuate here in the kingdom."

"That won't happen. What if they get invaded on their way here? I will not let people suffer just because of a family conflict," King Albert said.

King Albert and Prince Jerome were imitated, while Prince Joseph couldn't pick between the two; their own beliefs played an important role. If he's with his father, they can save the people, but they cannot ensure their sister's safety outside the castle. If he sides with his brother Jerome, they will find their sister around the kingdom, but then the villages might have the lowest possibility of survival because of the active monsters near the area.

While King Albert and Prince Jerome argued ferociously, Prince Khyl thought for a few minutes and...

"Father, I think I have an idea," Prince Khyl said coldly.

King Albert and Prince Jerome stopped arguing, while Prince Joseph stopped thinking for a moment. The three of them looked at Prince Khyl with questions in their eyes.

"What do you mean?" King Albert asked.

Prince Khyl smirked and replied, "What I mean is... I know what we should do," he said confidently.

The three of them looked at each other, and they were wondering what was on his mind.

King Albert spoke and asked, "Care to share what's on your mind, eldest son?"

"Yeah, what's the plan, eldest brother?" Joseph asked.

They know that when it comes to planning and strategy, the first person they think of is none other than the first prince.

Prince Khyl breathed out and spoke, "What's on my mind is that Joseph and I will pursue the subjugation, while Jerome will be the one who finds Sister and takes care of the kingdom in the meantime."

King Albert and Joseph were thinking deeply, while Jerome was confused.

Jerome asks and says, "I am not qualified to take care of the kingdom, but why me? "

"It's not about being qualified; It's about buying time," Khyl replied.

"Buying time? What do you mean by buying time, eldest brother?" Joseph asked.

Khyl sighs and says, "While we subjugate monsters, Jerome will take care of the kingdom for a while and also do a search operation for our sister." He looks at Joseph and adds, "What I mean by buying time is... If Jerome finds our sister, and we exterminate the monsters successfully, then what does it mean?"

The king and the two princes were thinking deeply about what he said, and Joseph realized...

Joseph smashed his right fist into his left palm and said, "Aha! It means two birds in one stone."

Khyl replied to him and said, "Finally, your brain starts working."

"What did you say?" Joseph said, irritated.

When King Albert and Prince Jerome heard what Joseph said and understood what Khyl meant, they were amazed and fascinated.

Jerome was amazed and said, "Wow, brother, you are literally a natural-born genius!"

King Albert commented and said, "As always, your plans are marvelous as they are."

King Albert did not know that his eldest son was not just a strategist in the battle; he was also good at analyzing and solving problems more concisely and efficiently.

The three of them praised the first prince for his intelligence and efficient problem-solving skills.

Prince Khyl said, "It was just my suggestion, and the choice is yours to begin with." He looked at his father and added, "Father, you have to choose now or tomorrow morning because I'm tired and sleepy," he said while yawning.

King Albert breathes heavily and says, "Alright, the three of you can rest now; stay calm, and don't worry too much about your sister. The three of you know how smart your sister is, so now you are dismissed and get some sleep."

Jerome thought for a minute and noticed. "Wait, wait, wait. Hold on for a second. What do you mean that I'll be the one who's going to take care of the kingdom?"

"Father will join us," Khyl cut off his statement.
