under some rubble.
the rocket train (she forgot the name) had crashed through the door and luffy was stupid enough to grab everyone with his stretchy hands, and pull them along for his suicide plan by falling down from the roof to the pit of water that had no end, and somehow end up on the train that kokoro was reckless enough to drive into this place.
they made it past the canyon and crashed into the ground floor of the tower of justice, and now, were under a bunch of rubble that nearly crushed her.
oh...and luffy was trapping her within his arms as she lay on the floor.
she blinks once, twice, thrice, and slowly registers what kind of position they were just in. it just felt kind of...weird. not uncomfortable or unwelcome, but with her captain's face near her face and noses nearly touching, the only reaction she could give was blinking a few times.
staring at her face as he grunted at the rubble on his back, he turned to her, "are you okay?"
she could only nod at such a small distance.
she couldn't understand...why was he protecting her? she knew that he believed she was fully capable of taking care of herself, so why was he holding the rubble on his back and balancing himself on his arms that rested beside her head?
she lowly mutters, "captain...i'm okay. don't worry..." raising up both her arms, she planted her palms on the rubble behind his back, lifting her body up so their breaths mingled with one another. for a moment, luffy's eyes went wide, forgetting how to breathe for a second at how close [name] was to his face.
she smelled like sunflowers - his nose instantly memorized that scent and reeled him in.
but she was focused on pushing the heavy piece of rock off of him, face near his ear. "let's get this off of you..."
she pushed the stone off of him, letting luffy sit up on his knees as she slowly got up. dusting off her clothes, she held a hand out to him, "let's go, robin is waiting for us..."
luffy's face was blank, but he only smiled once he took her hand and let her pull him back to her feet. he placed his hands on his waist, grinning, "are you sure you're okay?"
she nodded, "yes, i'm good. but why did you protect me?"
"i don't want you to get hurt, obviously!" he sounded kind of mad.
