chapter 008. survival of the fittest

in front of [name] was a roughly patched-up going merry. it wasn't the perfect repair but it was enough for them to set sail once more. the broken mast was reattached back on the ship, no longer having the chicken appearance - she found it mysterious that whoever fixed the ship knew what merry looked like before her chicken costume.
she walked around the deck with a curious look, finding her surroundings to be warm and similar. whoever fixed it had her thanks (usopp kept saying it was a mystery ghost, so she decided to thank the ghost as well).
after usopp, sanji, and chopper (who was used as bait, poor thing) pulled merry back down to the sea (she thanked the sky-sharks and apologized for butchering their buddy up), the crew now stood on the going merry and began devising a plan.
chopper almost got eaten afterward too, so [name] had to jump in and save the poor reindeer that screamed at her for help.
"gather up, guys!" nami shouted.
the crew did as told.
"alright, look at the map. this is the explore team's route, a straight line to the south. in this right eye place, there should be a ruin or something. watch out for enemies and bring the gold back!" she looked at sanji and usopp, "at the same time, we four will navigate going merry through this island. we will land on shore as close as possible to the ruin. then, both teams will meet at this spot and we will leave the sky island as soon as possible! then when we do, we will be known as the rich pirates that can buy everything we want~!"
"alright, let's go!"
the exploration team was [name], luffy, zoro, robin, and chopper. sanji was told to stay with the ship in case his nami-swan and usopp were in danger, while the rest of the strong monsters were gone to fight and bring the gold back.
the only hope that [name] had was that they wouldn't split up.
that's why, she was super careful with zoro. whenever he went another way, she could call him back with a spare drawing of the island's map in her notebook she made last minute, "zoro, wrong way. south is this way..."
luffy nodded as he stood alongside her, "that's right! come back, zoro! geez, your horrible sense of direction is such a pain!"
while he said that, luffy also headed in the wrong direction.

as zoro began to argue with his captain, robin only said while patting [name]'s shoulder, "i think it would be best that we make pairs, since two of us can't find our way and [name] and i can. chopper, could you pair with the captain? [name] can pair with mister swordsman."
