NIGHT-ROAD

Brian drives down the road following the car from a distance, Vivian sitting beside him while Carol is in the back seat.

Carol: So it was just you and Beth after?

Vivian: Yeah

Carol: You save her?

Vivian: She saved herself

Carol looks over at Brian

Carol: You got out with Daryl and Ian?

Brian: Yeah. Was on our own until a bunch of pricks found us. Rolled with them for a couple of days until we found Viv.

Vivian: We were alone for a while. We got cornered, I made sure she got out and......I don't know, she was gone.

As the car passes by, it side swipes a walker making it spin around and falls on the ground

Brian: She saw a car with a white cross in the back window.

Carol: Just like that one?

Vivian: Yeah.

Brian drives the car over top of the walker's head smashing it into pieces.

Brian: You know they're gonna wonder where we went. I know Lyla's gonna kick my ass when we get back.

He looks at the dashboard, at the fuel meter

Brian: Tank's running low.

Carol: We can end this quick. Just run him off the road.

Vivian: Nah

She looks over at the fuel meter

Vivian: We're good for a bit.

Carol: If they're holding her somewhere, we can get it out of the driver.

Vivian: But if he don't talk, we're back to square one. We got the advantage. We'll see who they are. If they're a group, see what they can do. And then we'll do what we gotta do to get her back.

Carol: They're heading north. I-85.

Brian: Ah Atlanta, fond memories.

The first car zooms down the freeway where the dark remains of Atlanta lays, completely darked out. No light anywhere.

Brian slowly follows behind the car as it moves down a street. He comes to a slow stop where the car is stopped ahead of them, taillights on

Vivian nervously bites her nails staring ahead towards the car.

Brian: What the fuck is he doing? Ain't no trains or they?

The taillights flashes then shots off as the door opens and a man exits the car.

Vivian: There's two of them.

Brian: Holy shitstains, is that a cop?

Carol takes out her gun

Carol: They might've seen us.

The cop walks away down behind one of the buildings. Brian and Vivian share a confused look.

They wait for a long moment waiting for the cop to come back

Vivian: What's taking him so long?

Brian: Maybe he had to tinkle. When you gotta go, you gotta go.

A walker's hand slams against the passenger side making the three jump in fright. The walker snarls banging in the window, Vivian rolls her eyes.

The cop is shown to be walking back throwing something down on the ground. He begins rolling something else off to the side
