Extra chapter tonight because I'm feeling generous🫶🏻
Also, this chapter is a little heavy and graphic so, just be aware of that as you're reading.
I cannot wait for y'all to see Juliette's demon design... like I'm frothing at the mouth knowing that I have to wait to show you or it'll spoil stuff.Alastor
Moving Juliette into my home was probably the best decision I could have made.
I can keep an eye on her, and the house isn't so quiet anymore.
I love my peace and quiet the same as any other man, but sometimes knowing someone is there just to talk to is nice.
She and I spend our days together when we're not working, and even then I meet her at the diner when I get off so I can walk home with her.
Slowly but surely she began to fill out her clothes once more, her cheeks no longer looking sunken and her skin no longer deathly pale.
I also noticed she was smiling much more, and clung to me like a magnet. Anywhere I went, I had a little shadow following me.
If I was writing a script for my broadcast, she'd sit in my office with me and read a book.
If I was cooking dinner, she'd either help or sit at the table and converse with me.
My feelings for her grew fonder by the day, and the ring that her mother gave me sat in a drawer next to my bed.
It became a habit during late nights that I would pull it out and look at it, observing the craftsmanship.
It was a beautiful ring, I had to admit. The fact that her mother gifted me something that was obviously so precious to her showed that she trusted me with her daughter's heart and safety.
Tonight was one of those nights that I couldn't sleep, and I was lost in thought as I stared at the ring.
Surely, Juliette and I were partners at this point... we never really confirmed or set anything in stone, but the way we act towards each other is far from just camaraderie.
On top of that, the thought of another man so much as touching her made my bloodlust skyrocket.
She's mine.
I wasn't even really sure how to ask her such a weighted question. To be completely frank, I never believed I'd ever have to worry about such a thing.
Should I put together a date? Ask her over dinner? Or maybe get a gift to go along with it?
What if she says no? Then I'd feel like a fool...
My brows furrowed and then my thoughts were cut short when I heard my door click and start to open.
My eyes widened and I quickly put the ring away and shut the drawer as Juliette slowly entered my room.
"Dear?"
She grumbled, rubbing her eye as she trudged over to my bedside, her night dress swaying at her knees.
She's so pretty...
Blood rose to my cheeks at such a sappy thought, but it was true. She was very beautiful.
Even with her nightie and uncombed hair, she is the most precious stone in a pile of dull rocks.
She hadn't said anything, and then wordlessly crawled up into my bed with me, shimmying her way under the covers before plopping her head down on my other pillow.
I just stared at her and blinked before my shock melted away into a warm feeling at the center of my chest, my smile soft as I reached over and gently brushed her hair away from her eyes.
