Rose POV
I lay down in the plush bed, the silence in the room stretching like an eternity. It feels like forever since Jungkook left to take that call. I should have known better, he's a busy man with responsibilities. The expectation of spending a quiet night together slips away, and I sigh. I try to close my eyes, maybe sleeping is a good idea to kill some time.
Jungkook POV
We're about 2 hours away from arrival. Just realized my laptop was left on, so I've called a meeting with my crew to watch out for those traitors. Time's ticking, and with Rose possibly in danger, there's no room for delay. Let's make every moment count and ensure nothing ruins her time here.
As I rush back to the room, my heart pounds with worry for Rose's safety. I silently push the door open, relieved to find her peacefully asleep on the plush bed. Despite the urgency of our situation, seeing her serene face brings a moment of calm to my frantic mind. Carefully, I sit beside her, gently brushing a strand of hair away from her face. In this fleeting moment of tranquility, I vow to do everything in my power to keep her safe and make up for any worries caused by my absence. With determination renewed, I prepare to face the challenges ahead, knowing that Rose's well-being is my foremost priority.
Rose POV
The warmth of the bed slowly lulls me into a state of drowsiness, the tension in my body easing as I drift between sleep and wakefulness. The distant sounds of the city outside barely reach my ears, muffled by the thick walls of the luxurious hotel. My thoughts start to blur, Jungkook's absence pulling at the edges of my consciousness, but I tell myself it's okay. He always has a good reason.
Suddenly, I feel a faint pressure beside me, like the bed shifting under someone's weight. My eyes flutter open, and I catch a glimpse of Jungkook's familiar silhouette, his figure barely visible in the dim light. He's back. Relief washes over me, but before I can say anything, I feel his fingers gently tuck a strand of my hair behind my ear. The simple gesture, so tender and intimate, brings a small smile to my lips.
"You're back," I whisper, my voice still thick with sleep.
Jungkook's eyes meet mine, a soft smile playing on his lips, though I can see the concern etched in the lines of his face. "Yeah, I'm back. Sorry it took longer than I expected."I shake my head slightly, still half-asleep but trying to stay awake to talk to him. "It's okay. I was just worried... But you're here now." I reach out, placing my hand over his, feeling the warmth of his skin against mine. It's a small connection, but it reassures me that everything will be fine.He nods, his expression turning more serious as he holds my gaze. "Rose, there's something I need to tell you."
His tone sends a shiver down my spine, pulling me fully out of the sleepy haze. I sit up, concern flooding me as I search his eyes for answers. "What is it, Jungkook? Did something happen?"
Jungkook takes a deep breath, his hand squeezing mine a little tighter. "I've been doing everything I can to make sure you're safe. But I need you to trust me, okay? There are... things going on, and I can't let anything happen to you. You mean too much to me."My heart races at his words, the gravity of the situation sinking in. "Jungkook, you're scaring me. What do you mean? Is someone after me?"
His jaw tightens, and I can see the internal battle he's fighting, trying to protect me without burdening me with the full truth. "It's complicated," he finally says, his voice low. "But I promise, I'll do everything I can to keep you safe. You just need to stay close to me, follow my lead, and trust me."
I nod, my grip on his hand tightening as well. "I trust you, Jungkook. I always have." The fear in my chest is tempered by the determination in his eyes. Whatever he's up against, I know he'll fight with everything he has to protect me.He lets out a breath he seems to have been holding, his expression softening as he pulls me into his arms. "Thank you, Rose. I'm sorry I have to put you through this."
I rest my head against his chest, listening to the steady beat of his heart. "We'll get through it together," I murmur, finding comfort in his embrace. "Whatever it is, we'll face it together."
Jungkook's arms tighten around me, and for a moment, everything feels right in the world. But as the seconds pass, the weight of his words lingers in the air. We may be facing something dangerous, something unknown, but with him by my side, I know I can face anything.
