Jungkook POV
The night is deepening, the stars slowly appearing in the sky, twinkling like diamonds against the velvet backdrop. The beach is almost deserted now, just the two of us standing near the water's edge, the gentle waves lapping at our feet. The air is cool, but the warmth from Rose's hand in mine keeps me grounded. I've never felt more at peace, more... whole.
It's surreal, this feeling that's taken over me. I've spent so much of my life shutting down my emotions, hiding behind the walls I've built to protect myself and those I care about. But with Rose, those walls have crumbled, piece by piece, until there's nothing left but the raw truth of what I feel. And now, standing here under the vast sky, I realize that this moment is too perfect to waste. I can't hold back anymore.
I stop walking and turn to face her, my heart pounding in my chest. Rose looks up at me, her eyes full of warmth and something else—something that makes my resolve even stronger. I take both of her hands in mine, holding them gently as I try to find the right words. She's been so patient with me, so understanding, and now it's time for me to be honest, to give her the truth she deserves.
"Rose," I start, my voice surprisingly steady despite the whirlwind of emotions inside me. "There's something I need to tell you, something I've been holding back for too long."
She looks at me expectantly, her gaze unwavering, and I can tell she already knows, at least part of it. But she doesn't interrupt, doesn't rush me—she just waits, giving me the space to say what needs to be said.
"I've been living a life that doesn't allow for... normal things," I continue, searching her eyes for any sign of fear or hesitation, but finding none. "I've always been focused on my duty, on keeping everyone safe, even if it meant pushing people away. But you... you've changed everything for me. You've shown me that there's more to life than just duty and responsibility. You've made me feel things I never thought I could feel."
I pause, taking a deep breath, because this is it. This is the moment where everything changes, where I lay my heart bare and hope that she'll accept it. "Rose, I want you to know that I'm... I'm not just some businessman or someone who lives a quiet life. I'm involved in things—dangerous things. I'm part of a world that's dark and unforgiving. But when I'm with you, all of that fades away. You make me want to be better, to be someone worthy of you."
She doesn't flinch, doesn't pull away. Instead, she squeezes my hands gently, encouraging me to go on. There's understanding in her eyes, and it gives me the courage to take the final step.
"I know this might sound selfish, given everything, but... I can't help it. Rose, I don't want to just protect you—I want you by my side. I want you to be mine, officially. I want you to be my girlfriend."
There, I've said it. The words hang in the air between us, and for a moment, I feel a rush of fear, the kind I haven't felt in years. What if she says no? What if she walks away? But then I see the way her eyes light up, the soft smile that spreads across her lips, and all of that fear melts away.
"Jungkook," she whispers, her voice filled with emotion. "I've known for a while... about what you do, at least some of it. I've been waiting for you to tell me, to be honest with me, and now that you have... I couldn't be happier. I don't care about your past or what you've done. I care about you, and I want to be with you, no matter what."
Her words hit me like a wave, washing over me with a force that leaves me breathless. She's not just accepting me—she's choosing me, despite everything she knows, despite the dangers that come with being close to me. In this moment, I realize how lucky I am, how rare it is to find someone like her, someone who sees the real me and still wants to stay.
Without thinking, I pull her into my arms, holding her close as the emotion surges through me. "Thank you," I whisper against her hair, my voice thick with gratitude. "Thank you for choosing me, for being with me despite everything."
She pulls back slightly, just enough to look up at me, her smile bright and beautiful. "I told you, Jungkook. We'll get through this together. I'm not going anywhere."
And just like that, I know that everything will be okay. With Rose by my side, I can face whatever comes our way. She's my anchor, my light in the darkness, and I'll do whatever it takes to protect her, to make her as happy as she makes me.
I lean down, my heart swelling with love and gratitude, and press my lips to hers once more, sealing our unspoken promise under the blanket of stars. The world around us fades away, and for the first time in my life, I feel like I've found something real, something worth fighting for. Little did they know, someone was hidden very well, watching them in their sweet moment.
